About
Nestled in the heart of Provence, La Bastide Rose is a charming guest house steeped in history. Housed in a former 18th-century paddlewheel mill, which later became a marble factory, La Bastide Rose has been welcoming guests for 25 years under the benevolent care of Poppy Salinger. Located on the banks of the Sorgue River, this beautiful residence features a private island preserved in its wildest state, an enchanting sculpture park and a captivating dove into history thanks to the Pierre Salinger Museum. Ideally located near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, famous for its antique shops and markets, La Bastide Rose offers tastefully decorated rooms, where modern comfort blends harmoniously with the charm of yesteryear. Each room has its own unique atmosphere and offers breathtaking views of the garden or river. The table d'hôtes, available by reservation only, features local produce. Meals can be taken outside, with the river as a backdrop, for an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Guests of La Bastide Rose can enjoy the pool and gardens, and indulge in a variety of activities such as canoeing on the Sorgue, cycling through the vineyards, and excursions to the picturesque villages nearby. Come and enjoy an authentic and invigorating experience at La Bastide Rose, where every detail has been thought of to offer you a memorable stay in Provence.

- One of the most extraordinary hotels I have stayed at. First and foremost it is family run. Go with the flow or you will miss the point. Great food, great breakfast, the grounds, sculptures, pool and the lived in house, absorb you.
Cons -
- More attention to detail needed regarding cleaning, Shower mound definitely needed treating.
- Great food chef but speed it up a lot please.
- Room was lovely but on the top floor so quite a lot of stairs, was offered one on the lower floor but I wanted a bath! Help was on hand to carry the cases - much appreciated.

Beautiful location and a marvellous selection for breakfast. Very comfortable room and a most welcoming hostess.
A little more help with suitcases and the ability to dine on the premises.
Location and some art
The manager is awful and the rooms are mediocre and
Excellent facility. Staff excellent, place beautiful and Poppy very charming. Numbers kept low so the place isn't crowded. Excellent
Beautiful country house, nicely maintained. The grounds are filled with sculptures from different artists, there is a very nice swimming pool. Located at the end of a dirt road, this is a peaceful place
Not much not to like. You have to expect not to be near a store, restaurant or other urban kind of needs. If you expect them you will be disappointed
The location is secluded, the property is beautiful and the setting in idyllic. The owner, Poppy Salinger, is a delightful person who spends time and engages with every guest. We enjoyed the Pierre Salinger museum which is also located on site. We had an unfortunate instance upon our arrival at the Avignon TGV station where the driver we had booked to take us to the Bastide Rose left one of our suitcases on the ground when loading our luggage into the trunk of the car. We only discovered this when we arrived at the Bastide Rose. We should have had the driver take us directly back but for some reason we allowed him to leave. The rural location was such that we were unable to get a cab or car share service to come and take us back to the station. Thus our first interaction with Poppy. She went back to her residence and got her husband to take us back to retrieve the bag. We ended up having several more conversation with Poppy over the two days that we were there and found them throughly enjoyable every time.
Hopefully it will only be a short term problem but they were between chefs so the restaurant was closed during out stay. We had planned out having our dinners at the site so this was disappointing to us but it all worked out in the end. We walked to nearby LeThor and brought some food back and wine back with us and had a nice dinner in a gazebo on the banks of the river which was quite nice and bit of break from daily restaurant dining during the vacation.
the property was nice, everyone was super friendlythe room was spacious & the bed comfy there are many nice villages in a radius of a 30 min drive lastly, the dinner at the restaurant was great
everything seemed a bit old and could have been better taken care ofthe pool area was nice, but the sun loungers partly broken and the water sometimes a bid turbid (I think it was not cleaned this specific morning)in general nothing grave.. but since the prices are generally high, we would have expected a bit more..
The hotel was excellent and critical to the success was the incredible energetic personality of the proprietor Poppy and her assistant Gabrielle. An incredible host with more real experience to share than could ever be documented in a review. The evening dinner was excellent and wine pairing to match. With I’sle sur la Sorgue as an adjacent village - what could one ask for more.
Everything
Wonderful place that feels outside of space and time. Art and nature are overwhelmingly present, creating a peaceful atmosphere that is hard to describe. Hope to come back soon.
Food isn’t available every day
The property was lovely and incredibly peaceful!
