It's an old/historical hotel, renovated but not recently. Rooms are of good size, balcony etc.The sauna, pool and jacuzzi are located at the top of the building and I can say that's the best thing in this hotel. It's clean, calm and a real treat.

Breakfast isn't good, when you imagine for people who come to locations like this good quality food is important. The variety was quite low and it was the same every day.Staff during breakfast are not that happy it seems.Bathrooms need renovation. Everything seems to be from 1990.There are basically no shops in this small village (except for a small bakery opening sometimes) so you depend on Oberkirsch the neighboring town for everything, even restaurants.The location is good if you are into hiking and being in nature, but beside that there are basically nothing to do around here.

The rooms were large and well appointed. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was great. The breakfasts were fantastic. The fitness area exceeded my expectations.

The Main balcony door was stuck at first and took a whole day to get repaired. Even then is was not fully functional. The walls around the closets were a bit mucky. For the price of the room, I expected it to be cleaner.

Very bright and roomy hotel room. Nice balcony. Restaurant on site. Easy and close access to the Black Forest. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Can't think of a thing.

Very convenient location to go hiking. We have really enjoyed the spa, especially the panoramic sauna. The restaurant was also very good. It was a lovely weekend!

Lovely surrounding and nature, decent spa area and very friendly staff!

The spa area is very spread out the hotel and not in one common area. So you have to walk around and take elevators to get to different spa areas.Also not one common rule of “textile-free” and “textile” area. Didn’t like the fact one sauna was textile-only.

I like the cleanliness of the hotel, the staff, and facilities.

Excellent amenities, wide variety for breakfast options.

If I have to name one thing that I didn't like, it would be the pillow.

Excellent breakfast with a great variety of everything, very professional and friendly staff. The highlight every evening is dinner at the restaurant. While the Black Forest in general offers already a superb cusine, the Sonne Restaurant clearly stands out. Whether for a business trip (like me) or a vacation its always a pleasure and excitement to return.

Mattress was rather firm ....

The restaurant was really nice, the food was delicious, and interior was authentic themed for Schwarzwald.Breakfast in the hotel was okay (nothing special).

The seperate matresses for the large bed. The spa was disappointing, only one pool that was cold and the water jet didn’t work. Only one warm whirlpool that was located outside.Only two normal sauna‘s. The non-nude one was not operating. Only after 30 minutes the staff took care of that.They didn‘t provide bathing shoes even though it was required for the spa. Towels and bathing robes were provided.Strange smell in the bathroom that didn‘t go away.The minibar only had two small waterbottles.

It’s a very beautiful property. It’s clean and well preserved. The rooms are very bright and offer plenty of space. The staff was very friendly and offered help whenever they could.

The only little downside is the high temperature in the room. It was suggested to turn on the aircondition or leave a window open, which sounds like ecological suicide to me.

The place is beautiful, very clean, the food is very good and the kindness of the staff is incredible. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable.

The hotel restaurant claims to be open until 9 PM, but when I arrived at 8:55 PM, they refused to seat me, stating they were no longer accepting guests. This was both frustrating and misleading. As someone familiar with German punctuality, 9 PM should mean exactly that—not 8:55 PM. The elevator clearly states that the restaurant is open until 9 PM, so there's no valid reason to turn guests away early. If they have an earlier cutoff, they should clearly communicate it. This level of service is disappointing and unacceptable. I will never return.

Dinner service was a bit too slow

Nice location, food and drinks, service and pleasant staff with some good aesthetics sense in the room deco. The personnel at the massage centre and the reception were friendly and nice and the waitress at our table was more than ready to provide some good recommendationsA crib was provided for our 4 month old son.

Although we selected this room for the different views(Mountain, river etc.) it was mentioned to offer, any view from our room/ balcony was covered for the most part by the side of the mountain on top which the hotel was located, which was a bit disappointing.

Less choices of the lunch and dinner opportunities around the hotel.The dinner at the hotel is also available but it costs a bit considering the contents of the dishes.The restaurant at the hotel can be booked beforehand but it takes a time to be served. If you have a kid, I recommend you to order the fast serve menu otherwise kid is getting tired to wait the long dinner time.
