Pros +
- The room was clean and comfortable.
- Location, lovely staff, and Charming Chateau
- The AC worked very well, the room was spacious (but not clean!) and the bed was sufficiently comfortable.
Cons -
- The air conditioning froze. There were very few TV channels and none in English. We were told that the Restaurant for evening meals was only open for pre-booked functions and not to the hotel guests however we saw people eating dinner there on several occasions and the food was coming from the kitchen not from outside. This was extremely annoying as we were a long way from town and had to Uber which was very expensive. If you arrive before 4pm the doors are closed, you cannot get into the Chateau so warning, don't arrive early. Finally, a "mini bar" is advertised but what they actually mean is you have a very small empty fridge. A mini bar is supposed to be a stocked fridge and also, the hotel bar only sells one type of beer and sodas, but no wine.
- A lot of things were very disappointing: the room was very dusty and not well cleaned, the shower had mold, the curtains were stained, the sink in the bathroom was blocked, the carpet was not well vacuumed and was very scratched (edges, sides had very thick dust on them), the back garden was not well maintained, the garbage from the nearby homes is right on the street making it unpleasant to pass by. The staff was very accommodating and tried their best to communicate in English. It seemed that there were not many employees present and the ones that were present were overwhelmed. With a dog we found it very hard to walk around the hotel (a lot of dry grass which resulted in our dog having dry grass all over the coat), there is no green grass patch around and you’re immediately next to a busy road where you have to walk on the road as there is no pedestrian road. All the above are structural issues for us and we do not recommend this hotel. Rather, avoid it and spend your money somewhere else.
- We noticed the cleaning service missed a few items in our room upon check in and missed several items each day.

Very quiet, very comfortable room.
We noticed the cleaning service missed a few items in our room upon check in and missed several items each day.
Our room was lovely
The restaurant was closed and we weren’t informed. We had specifically booked for a special anniversary Also the pool only had ladder steps so not easy access and no treatments on the Saturday. Extremely disappointed The breakfast was only the same as a fast chain of hotels. Nothing special. Very expensive for what it was. We canceled one night ?
Luxurious bedroom and bathroom with large shower. Excellent dinner.
The only good things are location and ample parking.
We arrived around 6pm, went to the reception area and was left waiting for around 20 minutes while the guy was on the phone. No apology given... we was given our room key. After entering the room it seemed like it hadnt been cleaned there was bits on the floor, stains on the bed cover, mould on the net curtains , dusty shelves, dust on the skirting boards and on the telephone handset.
3rd visit to this lovely hotel, some rooms feel very luxurious, breakfast is great value for money with lots of choice. We love the pool area and the local area of La Rochelle. Lady who seems to run everything is lovely and very welcoming
Felt the room was not as nice as the last visit. Reception opening times do not work if you’ve been travelling and just want to relax, you have to wait until 4pm- will request early check in next time?
This hotel was precisely what I was looking for - a comfortable & reasonably priced place to stay convenient to La Rochelle airport with tea/coffee making facilities in the room, (minus milk). My room was spacious & the bed super comfortable.
The chateau hotel has a large garden with a variety of mature trees giving a country house feel. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, as were the staff in the restaurant where we ate delicious food.
From the moment we arrived- we were welcomed by the receptionist with a smile and she was very helpful. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name… the room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable! I highly recommend the hotel and will definitely be back if I get to La Rochelle again! Beautiful town but we didn’t get to spend enough time there!
That I didn’t have my bathing suit to enjoy the serene pool and sauna! ? There was nothing not to like about the hotel!!
We booked this hotel on the recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. The room was generous in size and facilities, the indoor pool and sauna was a real surprise and bonus and the evening meal was excellent.
The staff were good and very helpful, when they were around! On several occasions we couldn’t find anyone and had to hang around until somebody made an appearance. When they did, all was absolutely fine!
Stunning building, Very comfy room with big walk in shower .
Our room was No 1 right next to the restaurant, unfortunately they had a big party of 20 plus turn up so very noisy when we retired to the room..
Great to stay in château staff very helpful very cleanA way to go to la rochelle but great if want a peaceful stop off
The room and stay was good but let down by the breakfast and no of staffAt breakfast no waitress checking food was refilled and looked in kitchen no one and had to go to the reception to ask her to come down.
The building on outside was fantastic but inside to modern has no original features
Not able to enter hotel until 4pm and no bar
This is a very stylish hotel and a perfect choice for an overnight stay near La Rochelle if you are traveling by car. We were grateful to be assigned a room on the ground floor with direct access to the back yard, a very beautiful garden. I say this because by coincidence there was a partial lunar eclipse the night we spent at the hotel. So we were able to observe it from a privileged position... at 4:00 in the morning ! I wouldn't know what to say about the staff: a very nice and polite guy at the reception and a girl who was on the acceptable limit of bad manners when my wife returned the key to reception when leaving. The only negative note, however, was that and therefore I think that when we pass through La Rochelle again en route, it will surely be our first choice again.
Bad manners of desk employee when leaving
Comfy bed and well equipped room. Pleasant dining room. Good breakfast.
Receptionist did not speak any English.
Absolutely everything. Staff, room,, SPA, restaurant, park, it was a really exceptional experience. Congratulations to everybody.
The receptionist was the saving grace for usvery polite, good english, willing to help
There is no feel of a Chateau, very modernWe stayed 4 nights, our room was never cleaned, i asked for clean towels, etc The restaurant was closed one night due to a private function so we had to eat off site which was a 5km driveDay 3 we had empty bottles, dirty cups etc outside my room hoping for a room clean, which didnt happeni took a photo and asked at reception for a room clean to be told there was no one availableWe where very disappointed and would not return, the pool and sauna very outdated, there is no lounge or sitting area to have a coffee, so you had no choice but to sit in your room or outsidereception should be 24 hours, no one around beteewn 11,30 until 4pm is not goodtravellers waiting to check in 4.30 waiting for someone to attend to themfelt sorry for the recepection staff
The room was large and clean, the bed was very comfy.
The staff were not friendly, the breakfast was expensive and very average. The leisure facility were poor, no sauna or steam room. The pool was dirty and the surrounding area.
