    Very Good

    Based on 54 reviews

    Pros +

    • That it had a great resto on site!!
    • The location was good en route for the tunnel. Grounds and surrounding countryside picturesque. The hotel was a little quirky but clean and attractive. Dinner was good.
    • Well equipped, clean and very comfortable

    Cons -

    • That there was no one to do the check in until 18h30 on a cold winters night. No lights on, no one home. Very disconcerting but the stay and food made up for this issue. I recommend a simple note on the door or else a email on booking letting the person who reserved know!
    • Rooms small and the beds not quite as comfortable but that would not stop us staying again as it was very good overall.
    • This accommodation is a basic motel with very small rooms and completely overpriced. We would not recommend staying here under any circumstances!!!

On arrival we were very impressed and admired the lovely flower boxes on the main building and on the grounds! However, check-in hours were NOT as advertised. We arrived on our bicycles at 16:20 hours, when check-in had been advertised from 14:00 hrs to 23:00 hrs. The auberge was completely locked up, with no note of explanation. On calling the owner, Natalie advised she would arrive in 2 hours and then arrived 2 1/2 hours later with no apology!!

This accommodation is a basic motel with very small rooms and completely overpriced. We would not recommend staying here under any circumstances!!!

The staff couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are in a row to the rear of the excellent restaurant and were very clean and comfortable. A grassy area with flowers and seats provided a shady seating area. Perfect for an overnight stay. There was an excellent choice of local, freshly prepared meals in the restaurant and a great wine list. Breakfast was great too. I would highly recommend Auberge Saint Jean.

Lovely location surrounded by countryside. Staff went out of their way to help, even giving me a lift into town when my bike broke!

A member of staff was awaiting our arrival eventhough the restaurant was closed on a Sunday evening. We were able to have a drink and very kindly a cold platter was prepared for us.

All essentially satisfactory, however at the time of booking it was not clear to us that the restaurant was going to be closed on a Sunday evening.

A warm welcome at this auberge out in the countryside, surrounded by a beautiful garden.Comfortable and clean accommodation.Good breakfast.Safe parking.

Rural location, useful stop over point. Food at dinner and breakfast was great.

No staff available when we arrived and another guest had to help us find our room but at least we got access straight away.

Great restaurant with adjacent rooms, nice and close to A26 for travel in FranceMenu excellent with really friendly staff

We were very appreciative of the Auberge owner to let us use some plates, knives and forks plus wine glasses and serviettes.

We were disappointed to see a hand written note on the door of the auberge informing us the restaurant was closed - not available during the last couple of weeks of August. We had booked particularly to have rooms and restaurant at the same place. There was no mention of this on their Booking.com entry.

Very helpful staff and surprised how quickly they came once I called for checking in. The room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose. Location was a little isolated but actually an easy ride to the next village

Disappointed the restaurant was closed for annual holidays - next time

Fine for an overnight stop. Very tranquil, had a good night's sleep. Friendly staff. The evening meal was fine, but we regretted that we hadn't gone al la carte. Nice breakfast. Room small / basic but clean and reasonable value for the price.

When we arrived, before 6pm, the hotel was closed up which was a rather disconcerting and not what you want to find after a long drive. We had informed the hotel of our estimated time of arrival, but nothing was said at the time about the hotel only opening at 6.30 when the staff arrive. There was no notice on the door to say this. So we had to ring up and were told that our room (in an outside block) was open and a member of staff would be arriving. This really should be made clear on the Booking.com website. Could do with some new towels!

the location is excellent, the room was small but fine. the breakfast was fine.

we had booked in advance, but when arriving, the lady who met us - not the owner whom we met next morning- was far from welcoming. we arrived Sunday evening at dinner time, but had not been informed that no dinner was served in the Auberge, there was in fact nothing, the light was off, we were treated as irritant unwelcome sojourners.

A very freindly and welcoming Auberge. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was excellent offering a widechoice of dishes. Generally, an excellent place to stay. We will definetly stay again next year, when we are in the area again.

the staff were really helpful and friendly. the dining room was very modern and nicely decorated.

the bedroom and bathroom was comfortable, clean and warm but could do with a bit of an update.

Such a lovely authentic Auberge. Rooms are in ground floor annex which suited us perfectly. The restaurant was fabulous and the everyone was super friendly and helpful.

    7MartinPosted on: 11-23-2022

    quiet, slept great

no one there at arrival, bar open after 6pm

    7HubrechtPosted on: 10-13-2022

I had a very good dinner for 21€ with an excellent starter, a good main dish and desert.room was spacious enough to park my velomobile inside.

Maybe the maintenance of the building/room may get some attention. lamps were out of order and I was not totally assured that the facilities were clean.Breakfast was a bit underwhelming in the sense that you had to order what you wanted the evening before. So no buffet style breakfast where you can take what you want.

    6LisaPosted on: 10-8-2022

Friendly staff and good restaurant for a stop over - not expensive £21 per person for the evening 3 course menu and the food was good but or our only disappointment was no vegetables and just plain couscous with the main course - with a bit of inspiration could have been excellent value. Annex rooms small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast at £ 10.50pp could have offered more choice but nice croissants and fresh bread. Coffee not so great which in France is disappointing!

We arrived at 5 pm after 8 hour drive to find the Auberge locked and when we called to locate someone we were given the room number and told the key was the bedroom door - all good but we then discovered there was no bar or other refreshments available until the restaurant opened at 6:30pm. So if arriving before 6:30pm bring your own bottle! Nothing nearby to fill the gap. A small point but after a long drive an important concern when needing to unwind. If this had made clear in the information we would have planned differently -
