- The place is absolutely beautiful. We got an "upgrade" to stay in the tower, but we had reserved a newer room. So, it wasn't what we wanted and expected, but the experience of sleeping in the old tower compensated for it.
- The host Luis was so warm and welcoming nothing too much trouble . Very helpful . Very dog friendly. So close to Santander Ferry a gem of a find . An amazing property and gardens with a lake. Rooms are in adjoining wing . Quite rural and definitely a little bit of paradise . Was so calming and peaceful . Would highly recommend.
- Friendly place to stay in a rural area outside of Santander. They provide us with access to their garage to store our bicycles overnight. Perfect for an overnight stay before getting the ferry back to the UK. It would have been nice to have stayed longer to explore the area.
Cons -
- The only very little issue was the lack of food variety. There was nothing vegan, and they had to specifically accommodate for lactose intolerance.
- Nothing I didn’t like as minor things were compensated for .Would’ve liked A/C as hottest June on record but room was actually not unbearably hot. Food choice very basic but served with a lovely smile from Luis wife . I am coeliac and they were v accommodating .
- Absolutely nothing x Thank you

Magical. We always make this one of our stop ivers. Such a beautiful Casona gardens set in this gorgeous valley next to the pond. The owner couldn't be more helpful. Recommended
We have stayed several times. Luis and his wife are very friendly. There used to be an on site restaurant that was run separate to the hotel. That has closed and now luis's wife cooks dinner and breakfast for you. It's very good home cooking. The hotel is an old 13th century manor house set in wonderful gardens. There are a few bars and restaurants 10 mins walk down the road.
This property is delightful! Both Louis and Fatima went above and beyond to make sure that we were made welcomed and looked after. I can honestly say that we have never stayed anywhere where we have been better cared for! We would travel out of our way to stay here again!!
Absolutely nothing x Thank you
The location is very impressive.
When making the reservation in July I asked about having evening dinner in the restaurant, which was confirmed by email as being 'no problem', after checking in we were told it closed at the end of August, there were no nearby restaurants. I would have cancelled my reservation if I had been forewarned the restaurant had closed. We were prevented from accessing the garden and lake areas because they had been taken over by a very large number of people (100+) enjoying a private closed function. We also requested a double bed and a walk-in shower, which had also been acknowledged by the proprietor, we were allocated a room with small single beds and a 'climb in' shower over a bath. The room was cold and unheated. After a seven hour journey we wanted to relax and use facilities we'd been assured were available, they were not.THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS COPIED DIRECT FROM THE HOTEL'S OWN DESCRIPTION AS SHOWN ON FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER.*About: Casona Dos LagosIs the restaurant open? There is a restaurant at Casona Dos Lagos. It will be open during your stay. *Heated rooms come with a TV and a balcony. Each one has a private bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer.
This place is just magical, stunning and comfortable. Our room was in the actual tower (family room) and it was just amazing, like belonging to the medieval times and the view couldn't be better. I had the opportunity to get to know the history of this house and its ancestors.... The whole experience was just perfect.
The location and sorrounding. Our room, number 3, was magnificent. Will definitely repeat for a longer stay.
Would have preferred a buffet type breakfast.
Dog friendly with space to walk the dogs
No drink making facilities
Loved the location and perfect for our stay with the dogs before our ferry at Santander.
Owner was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location, with superb well maintained gardens. Lovely garden room
Lovely grounds and good restaurant
No plug in bath or sink
Great location for the ferry and also if just exploring the area. Really helpful friendly staff and no problem having our dogs with us. Restaurant onsite with good options on the menu. Beautiful grounds which I’m sure are lovely in good weather. It was a great find and we will be back.
Lovely stay. Very nice, clean room. Friendly staff. Very good on-site restaurant.
The property is in a very beautiful area and on a dry day would be wonderful . The garden was really pretty even on a rainy day .
No English spoken whatsoever, which is fine for some .the room was cold but we asked for the heating and it was done .no hot drink facilities and nowhere to buy some .
Location
Noise from room above. Hotel was nearly empty so couldn’t understand why they put us in two rooms together one on top of the other
The breakfast was alright but a little expensive. Loved the location of the hotel and the scenery was exceptional
Would have been better if there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Friendly and welcoming staff
Late check in and difficult to find
Beautiful gardens ideal for our 2 dogs to relax after 10 hours travelling by car from Almeria.
The restaurant and bar was not open but a perfectly good restaurant close by. As a constructive suggestion to the very nice owner, some water & coffee making facilities in our room would have been appreciated in light of the closed bar & restaurant. We would stay again.
