About

Reminiscent of a stately home, this striking hotel in Stolpe has modeled itself on the small country manor house hotels normally found in England and France. The private, cultivated atmosphere of the Gutshaus Stolpe provides an elegant backdrop for a refreshing break close to Usedom Island. The “Kurt” restaurant serves gourmet cuisine, and the rustic Stolper Fährkrug serves as the tavern. Guests can enjoy a wide range of facilities free of charge, including swimming pool, bicycles and a sauna. A listed property, the hotel is surrounded by a sweeping park populated with ancient trees. The entire grounds are privately owned and bordered by the river Peene, which eventually flows into the nearby Baltic Sea.

    Pros +

    • Friendly reception, nice territory, lake nearby
    • Luxurious hotel in peaceful location by the River Peene. Loved the sauna and cold outdoor pool.
    • Splendid location right on the river bank. Excellent food even if the gourmet restaurant was closed.

    Cons -

    • The hotel is old and has no elevator. The room was dirty, a lot of dust lot of spiders. Towels were torn, the hairdryer was covered with dust, the balcony was dirty, not cozy as photos say. The room was dark, doesn't match the photos. The only restaurant is far from Michelin and they have the same small menu for lunch and dinner. The food was tasty, but not something special, very simple. We were only one who didn't get the bread, though all German speaking people got it. The sommelier was terrible, no good manners and bad conversation. He didn't let us try the wine, just splashed it into the glass. It seemed that there were some discrimination because we don't speak German. We didn't expect it from Relais & Châteaux. Cannot recommend, will never come back.
    • Pls invest in a proper portafilter coffee machine. It would have made my day.
    • Absolutely nothing.

After some confusion at the check-in (my booking.com reservation hadn’t gone through apparently) I didn’t get such a warm welcome initially, as I was suspected to havemade a mistake. However there were still rooms availa leand everything was cleared up I was treated likea princess, even being served food rather late in the evening . The location (mediaval monastery ruin onsite! beautiful but simple manour-housedesign, gorgeous sunshine patio for the delicious organic breakfast (whichgoes until late, 11:00, very relaxing) , lovely salt-waterpool and cozy small spa with everything you need, flexiblesauna-times, and it was incredibly quiet and peaceful inthe night which is the main thing in a hotel, in myopinion. You can even get private hotel access to the river for swimming and a boat trip.

    Absolutely nothing.

We had an amazing stay, it was one of the best hotels we stayed at in Germany, I'm not sure why it doesn't have 5 stars because it's better than a lot of 5 stars hotels we stayed at before. The service was great, the staff was so nice and helpful. The hotel looks amazing, I loved the decoration and the style of the rooms. It's super family friendly so we felt great with our baby. The spa was great. The food was delicious. We will definitely come back!

Internet was really slow but I guess it's a great place to do an internet detox :D
