Hotel Engel

I had a new renovated and spacious room in Hotel Engel. The windows were away from the street and made it possible to keep it open during the night. The bathroom was spacious as well.Went out for dinner just across the street to an Italian restaurant with very good noodles.

There was no shower in the bathroom, only a tub. The breakfast buffet was small but had everything I needed. A bottle of water for free on the room wold be nice.

Friendly helpful staff. Excellent Breakfast. They even drew faces on the eggs ? Quiet location close to three good restaurants. Happy to stay again. Parking was easy. Excellent local shops and a real golidsy feel.

The TV didn't work - but we didn't miss the TV. Place was really nice.

Several times asked for invoice for a company. Promised to send my mail. Didn't receive anything. Many times contacted hotel after visit. Still no response.

we didn’t have hot water in the shower, poor breakfast and bed sheets for kids bed were used.

Quite central, and in a quiet location. Comfortable bed, even if it was quite small.

So, where do I start??? Well, to call it a four star is definitely wrong, the receptionist tried to change that to a three star, but even that is really exaggerated!Don’t get me wrong, I am not a “Green”, but nowadays there is no need to have small portions of butter, jam, honey, or milk etc. in silver foil. There is no real choice of hot drink with breakfast, just filter coffee - no Latte Machiatto, or Milk Coffee. The bread rolls were freshly warmed up, but not very tasty. There was a reasonable selection of ham, baloney, cheese etc. but the plates weren’t cooled or covered, and watching flies crawl over them doesn’t give me much of an appetite! There is no air conditioning in the room which meant that, because the curtains don’t close completely, the room gets very hot, but with open windows there is quite a bit of noise from outside.The shower…. Sorry, but that was just not acceptable! There was mould on the inside of the door, some strange orange residue under the frame of the shower door, and the drain cover was loose. Once more the environmental unfriendliness was visible, although there was a refillable bottle in the shower, it was empty but shower gel was available in small silver foil sachets. The toilet was clean, but the seat should be renewed soon, it appeared to be quite old. I asked the receptionist about bottled water in the room, (glasses were there), but his answer was a rather unfriendly, “you can buy some at next door in the Gasthaus”. Nowadays most hotels have drinks available, and most have a courtesy drink in the room. Hotel Engel is an exception.I have travelled extensively in Europe, North America, and Asia, and have stayed in many different hotels, both for business and also private. This stay will not be remembered as one of the best.

Breakfast was good ?

The Hotel wasn't in a good condition. Staff went in my room while I was napping. (19:30) I don't know what on earth they want in my room. I will never ever take this Hotel again.
