- I’d like to share my experience with the service, as it left me with mixed feelings. We booked a room with dinner included, which was served from 6 to 8 PM. Unfortunately, we got stuck in traffic and realized we’d be late, so we called the hotel to inform them. I don’t speak German well, and the lady at the reception didn’t speak English. She insisted that no one in the hotel spoke English and that dinner ended at 8 PM, after which we wouldn’t be able to eat. It felt like she wasn’t interested in helping us or being friendly.However, when we arrived, we were welcomed by a very friendly gentleman with long hair who spoke excellent English. He sorted everything out quickly and efficiently and even arranged dinner for us. So we can’t say that the staff was unhelpful; from the moment we checked in, everything was perfect. The breakfasts were also very good. The only issue was the lady answering the phone, who managed to spoil our mood before we even arrived.

Great breakfast with a lot of items, Dinner was okay however not outstanding. For a stay of one night the property is rather good value. We loved the surroundings and the quietness of the Harz mountains.
The hotel seems to have been built in GDR-times and you still can see the "charme" of the communist times in East Germany. However they try to meet standards of the united Germany and sometimes they succeed, sometimes not. No elevator, so difficult for elderly people!
The surroundings were really lovely. we really loved hiking through the jungle. There were fawns beside the hotel and they were cute. The breakfast was also nice.
We got an electric boiler from reception. It could be better to have one or a coffee/tea set in each room.
