Pousada Caniçada - Gerês

The views were amazing. There were lots of places to sit and relax indoor out. Breakfast was excellent with good variety of foods for every taste. Staff was amazing and truly willing to help at every turn. One night the chef was unable to cook for the dinner time and the manager helped us find a suitable restaurant, checking many other restaurants with a menu that would fit our needs. Also, a different manager helped us retrieve tickets we had purchased online but were having difficulty getting as we were out of country. Service is there motto.

Honestly, the only complaint I have is the coffee was terrible. I tried it in different forms during our stay (regular drip, cappuccino, etc) and all were terrible. They use Nescafe products. I’m not being a coffee snob, it just didn’t meet my expectations for such a nice hotel.

The water pressure in the shower could have been stronger, which was a minor inconvenience

Amazingly affordable luxury hotel in the mountains with the best views and atmosphere.

Please use a single large duvet when you connect two single beds together!Bathroom was very clean, but had a slight unpleasant smell. Which was not a deal before me.

The double bed is very bouncy when the second person moves or gets up. The rain shower didn’t seam to work properly.

I thought for a place that is really “remote” they could provide more services, like spa for example so we can enjoy more of the stay taking into consideration that it rains a lot in that region.

Great location, fabulous views. Excellent breakfast, lovely pool. Ricardo at reception was extremely helpful and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us lots of good advice.

The view from the hotel is beautiful! The rooms were comfortable and dinner at the restaurant was great. The staff was very helpful and nice. The location is convenient for many different trips around the park.The hotel is wheelchair accessible, but not in every room. If accessibility is an issue, make sure to request this type of room in advance.

Some areas of the hotel aren't really soundproofed. We booked two rooms, and in one of them you could hear the guests next door pretty loudly.

The view is the best! Exceptional. The reception staff especially are delightful.The breakfast is fresh, extensive and top quality.

The breakfast buffet was fine. The location was very good, when the weather is not rainy and the clouds not present the views from the terraces will be spectacular.

The staff was very kind and the views were incredible. Very nice breakfast and the menu on the restaurant was very good as well. Despite the cold outside, when we arrived the room and all the hotel were very warm.

Some parts of the hotel were closed.

The mid century modern architecture and at least one large mosaic; this is so rare in Portugal and is the highlight of the property. Some of the furniture is also original. Grupo Pestana should work with experts to preserve these original elements and make sure any newer element of decor is in accordance and tasteful. This is a national treasure from the architectural and decor perspective, it deserves care. The view is also breathtaking. Nice staff.

There is a strong smell of chemicals/naftalina in the rooms. The alcatifa also needs deep cleaning. These aspects are so easily to fix and affordable It has also been mentioned in other reviews. it’s a pity Grupo Pestana hasn’t gone out to correct it. The beds and bedding also deserve an update.

I think the restaurant menu was a bit limiting for a stay of three. Ishtar. It would have been nice to have more variety as it was the only place to eat.
