Wonderful place. Kind staff. Near Hochkar ski resort. We recommend the on-site restaurant, which is excellent.

Hotel Fahrnberger - Simply an Awesome Experience!Just got back from Hotel Fahrnberger and I gotta say - it was fantastic! Even though the buildings there are very old (foundations from the 14th century, they say), you'd never know it once you're inside. The rooms are clean, cozy, and the best part - you can sleep like a baby, no noise at all.Sauna HeavenAfter a day of skiing, nothing beats their wellness area. They have 3 different saunas and a nice relaxation room. And when you want to cool down? Just run outside into the snow! Bit of a shock, but the feeling afterward is amazing!And if the hotel's wellness area isn't enough for you, you can visit the nearby Ybbstaler Solebad baths (https://www.ybbstaler-solebad.at). The Food Was AmazingBreakfast? Awesome! The buffet had everything you could think of, and everything was fresh and tasty. The best part was being able to order eggs made any way you want - that was a great start to each day.The dinners were even better! We ordered those 4-course dinners and they were worth every penny. Something different every night and everything was so well prepared that we couldn't stop eating!Great LocationThe hotel is in a quiet spot, so no hustle and bustle. And what's great - the Hochkar ski slopes are super close. Morning to the slopes, evening back to the hotel, no long drives.

The only thing that could be better is the coffee. It's not bad, but if you're used to Italian espresso, you might be a bit disappointed. But honestly, with all the other great food they have, it's hardly worth mentioning.

The best welcoming people at the reception, bar, restaurant, even the cleaning lady. The whole setup of the hotel is lovely and cozy.Very comfortable and clean room, the whole facility was very well thought through and welcoming. This property is a gem in the area. It's a small, customer-oriented business that fulfills every wish, ensuring perfect comfort for everyone. The restaurant is also excellent, with truly delicious food. I must also mention the hotel's style, which embodies everything I love about the Austrian countryside. They've preserved and renovated the traditional buildings and furniture, keeping the authentic style of the place. It's absolutely awesome.

The wellness part could stay open for a bit longer.

We loved everything! It's close to the slopes (about 10 min drive). We loved our room, the dinners, the sauna (Finnish and steam), the staff were welcoming, helpful and always available. There is also a heated ski room. When I asked we found out this is a family-run hotel since several generations. Thank you for having us!I've stayed in perhaps 30 hotels in various countries and this was a special and memorable experience. Would definitely stay here again.

I don't know a good solution but saunas tend to be popular in the evenings after skiing so there might be a few people to take turns with. But we still managed to alternate with others and make use of the amazing saunas.

Very nice family hotel where old meets new. You can feel that it is a long-term family business and the owners put all their hearts into their work.The surroundings are full of various activities and places for discovering nature.

Would be great to be able to have tea/coffee available outside the working hours.

Very good location in nice scenary with plenty of opporrunities for different outdoor activities in close vicinity. Friendly and helpful staff. Good dinners.

The staff was extremly kind and helpful. The hotel is very nice and tidy and has a great location. We enjoyed the Sauna and the wellnes area a lot. The breakfast was very nice with lots of choices. The dinner is excellent value for money. It is also great that there is an EV charger right in front of the hotel (not for free but a possibility to charge the EVs).

Maybe the only thing that was not perfect are the pillows but it might be comfortable for others.

Super stay, really enjoyed it and staying in Hochkar. Didn’t realise it was a bit cut off with just a few taxis in the region (for getting to the train etc), and only an ATM for cash in Göstling. We travelled by train and didn’t have cash and needed it. Very elegant environment with a traditional look. Well conceived food, peaceful spa. Dagmar is wonderful and very accommodating. Not sure I would bring noisy kids here - defo felt that it leant more to adults, though they did have a toy box etc, and the wait staff were very nice to our 5 year old. Beautiful location, would definitely go back - but I would think twice about bringing our younger child here as the environment is very hush hush, and more geared to adults who will find peace, cosyness, tranquility, comfort, good food and amazing nature around.

We travelled by train and taxi, and I didn’t realise the lack of infrastructure for getting around. I would rent a car the next time for sure, to make life easier.

We have already visited the region several times but without having an accommodation there. This time we chose a hotel just in the valley, where all interesting places are located around within 10 km. We were attracted by the Hochkar mountain and both the Wasserlochklamm and the Gams bei Hieflau waterfalls. The Fahrnberger hotel is a nice building already from outside and a reasonably big parking is located in front of the building. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, although we do not speak German (they also fluently speak English). We were accommodated in a nice, separate building near the main hotel building. We like the style how the hotel is equipped: it is a local Austrian natural design but providing the maximum comfort. We felt like we were on our honeymoon there. In the evening we enjoyed a great Riesling white wine in the hotel lounge. The four poster bed, located in our big and amazing room, provided a very pleasant environment in the night. The bathroom with a shower was also big and comfortable. The toilet was in a separate room. In the morning we have a nice mountain view from the window of our room. The breakfast was very tasty and we also enjoyed sitting places in front of the hotel to absorb the atmosphere of the Alps mountains. We left the hotel totally satisfied and the price for the accommodation seems to us very adequate. For sure, we plan to return there in the future.

Amazing location with fantastic access to the alps. The staff were really friendly & helpful & the hotel and room were spotless- as was the sauna!

It was our second visit to this lovely Hotel and we hope to came back. We like design, perfect meal, hospitality.
