    Pros +

    • Plenty of hot water in the shower
    • The entire staff was fantastic. They treated us extremely well and helped us with our bags and even stored ice for us. All of them were fantastic. Also, we liked the fact that we could get all types of foods, drinks and ice at the attached gas station, restaurant and bar.The rooms are extremely plain, but the shower worked great. The air conditioning is a whole other subject.
    • Clean.

    Cons -

    • This ¿hotel¿ was a bad choice for me, it is a truck stop. Not a good hotel for Camino travelers. The room was extremely hot, i had to prop the window open with clothes hangers from the closet.
    • The beds are extremely soft and not comfortable. The air conditioning did not work at all and it was 32°C (90°F) so we had a pretty miserable night. In addition, it’s a horrible location because you can’t open the window due to the fact it is also a truck-stop, so diesel smoke would get in your room. Note the first picture that they have on Booking is a truckstop. It’s there for a reason. And even worse, if you do open the windows to try to get a cool breeze in, bees and flies come in and buzz around your ears all night. In addition, it is outside of town and off the Camino by at least a 1/2 a kilometer.
    • It was a truck stop. Loud trucks coming and going all night.

Hotel Castillo is directly off the Camino, the cafe is open all day and late so there in starving until siesta is over. If you’re a pilgrim it might perfectly fit your break down of stages… as it did ours.

First - it’s was okay. It really was.. but because of a smell in my bathroom it never felt clean to me. It might have been, just did not feel clean. Only soap was in the shower - no had soap to wash your hands. The shower door enclosure was eroded and in decrepit shape.

Fantastic, best stay, on the Camino! Everything was great! Clean, great bed, great sleep, great shower! Wonderful food in the restaurant and 24/7 bar!

Easily accessible and had restaurant on premises.

The hotel located at a highway rest stop. Not known when booking.

The location. The food was quick and filling.

Was a bit surprised that it was a truck stop! The air conditioning did not work and it was hot, so a very uncomfortable night.

    Clean, comfortable, and good dining.

Clean, nice room and right on the Camino before town entrance but it’s truck stop. I went into town and had a great hamburger and drinks with pilgrim friends at a bar for lunch. Had a salad for supper at hotel and best was I could get coffee at 6am next morning before walking as open 24 hrs-truck stop

A truck stop so no Camino Charms but still a great stay

Location was great! Easy walk to town and catch up back on the El Camino. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to walk downstairs and have breakfast.

The air conditioning did not work. It was a very warm night sleep

    7KarenPosted on: 5-19-2025

Very clean accommodation and the room was nice for a quick one night stay.

It was part of a Truck stop. No charm and two blocks outside of old town.

    9NancyPosted on: 5-14-2025

Right off the trail, warm (heat was on!), comfy beds, good restaurant downstairs

    7RebeccaPosted on: 5-10-2025

The hotel is actually a truck stop, but it was clean and I fine place to stay for one night.

    8JanetPosted on: 5-9-2025

The room was no problem; one that any Pilgrim would be fine with. The housekeeping staff greeted the guests and were very pleasant. When you're walking on the camino as you get into the little town, there is a water tower in front of you. The town is to the right and the truck stop is to the left.

I had an incorrect expectation about the restaurant. There was absolutely no healthy food. It has a diner that's open all the time and I expected it to have eggs to order and food that is actually prepared there. It was all processed and precooked and just heated up (and the server didn't even put my pizza in the microwave long enough to heat it and really didn't seem to care). There was not one apple or orange or banana, etc in the place, including the convenience store. They have so much opportunity to make that better.

    Restaurant downstairs

The second floor was too hot. Had to open windows. Noisy outside due to truck parking.

    Location and great food

Lot of overnight noise from cafe below

On the Camino Francés this was my favorite place to stay! Why? Every night you stay with pilgrims, snore with pilgrims, shower with pilgrims, eat with pilgrims, clean the shared kitchen with pilgrims, etc. The hostel in the town was full so I spent a night at "the truck stop" instead and it was heaven! The private room was so clean with no snoring, the private shower was so clean with no line, and the best part = the restaurant downstairs is 24/7 with delicious and affordable food. I had croquettas, eggs with fries, torrejas, and they made me a huge sandwich to go the next day. I was so sad to leave and if you get to stay here, consider yourself lucky!

The room was hot. But, if you stay here in Janurary like I did you will be very happy.

The staff were nice and helpful. Since it is located at a truck stop, we enjoyed having a restaurant with a good meal and also a store on site.

The location is a little bit off the Camino Frances so it added some to our daily walk.

We had a great night at this hotel and although it was a little from the main town, it was easy to see from the trail and we enjoyed our stay. Easy check in and great to be able to access the restaurant whenever needed.

Although we could hear the trucks at times, it did not bother us at all.
