    Pros +

    • Very nicely located in an old medieval building in this beautiful village, super friendly and welcoming staff. The room was fine, beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet. Breakfast was excellent (but was exceptionally in another hotel nearby), and the dinner the night before was also very good.
    • special, uncommon
    • The breakfast was very good. The location was very good.

    Cons -

    • The working of the lights in our room was quite strange, maybe a small explanation in the room on how to put and keep the lights on would be useful. The use of dark paint on the walls maybe fine with the medieval style but makes the room rather dark.
    • not very well maintained (lamps that don‘t run)…staff friendly but not trained welltv should be possible somewhere
    • Automatic check-in had problems; when I tried to do this, the system kept telling me that my date of birth was invalid, but I wasn't given a means of changing it. Then when I tried a different method, the system required me to verify who I was using a code to my email, but i couldn't access that without coming all the way out of the check-in system, in which case, I lost the progress I had made. The room, and the property generally were quirky. It felt like a new concept that hadn't yet been fully developed or realised. So I had medieval four poster bed, but it was made out of MDF. Not quite sure what use I could make of the swing in my room, and the curtains came off their hooks too easily when I opened and closed them.I ate in the restaurant one night and only when I sat down to order did I find out that there was a discount on certain dishes if I had made a reservation, but it was too late by then - that seemed like a bad bit of marketing.

The location was great. Not too far from the station. Variety of food for breakfast. The bed were comfortable.

The tap in the shower was not working properly. Didn't particularly like the dinner at the restaurant.

We liked the town that this hotel was located in.

    - bathroom outside of the room - this was not mentioned beforehand. - very hot in room and no fan.- unfriendly lady in restaurant was very unhelpful when we arrived and when we were trying to ask to eat in the restaurant (which was half empty). We had to ask another member of staff for help and only then were we given a table to eat at.- food was extremely expensive and portions small. Service was slow and general unfriendly attitude toward us was upsetting. - hotel room was far too expensive for what it was.

Quirky hotel with lovely rooms full of character, right in the middle of town. Very helpful and friendly staff and decent meals. Definitely a destination for lovers of all things medieval and people who need a place to stay to explore this beautiful part of Switzerland.

We had a room under the roof and we were lucky the temperatures got down during the night. This is an old house and there is no lift - big suitcases need to be carried up the quite narrow spiral staircase.

    Fun place, playful medieval/renaissance-themed rooms

They use vinegar to clean the bathrooms and it smelled pungent for hours

The staff has been very helpful. The breakfast has been somewhat different to a standard breakfast offering other types of food compared to others. They have a brand new room dedicated to the cycles. This is definitely a added value

Great location. Nice room. Well decorated and original style.

Says there is a spa and has signs for a spa but there is no spa and never had been. Ridiculous! The voice for breakfast was very limited and croissants were two days old and very dry! Staff were rude when we had problems with self-checkout machine.

    Exceptional

No toilet in the room, although allocated one to the room on same floor. It was actually fine. No medieval theme ...but kids liked it anyway.

Excellent location in the center of beautiful Saint Ursanne village. This is a quirky eclectic hotel with unexpected& fun themed rooms ( mine had a swing !). The bathroom was separate to my room but was allocated for only my use. Everything was super clean and the room was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful . Online Check in and check out is provided. The restaurant in this hotel offers fantastic food.

Too many emails were sent for online checkin and checkout.

Cool style, great location, nice to have a games room for the kids; nice to have the restaurant and bar.

Lovely interior, great location & amazing restaurant

    it was a bit dusty

This hotel is unique, the medieval concept is rather good. And the staff do try hard.

Firstly, the spiral staircase is difficult with luggage (there's no lift); & secondly, some of the rooms have basin & shower, but the exclusive toilet is down the hallway - their English website doesn't reveal this fact; so beware when booking !! (To be fair, they upgraded me to a full en suite room) The town is some distance from the railway station.

Very fun hotel with themed rooms. We loved the set-up and theme. Comfortable beds too. No reception desk, but the staff at the restaurant was very nice and helpful. The restaurant serves good food at dinner.

The rooms were a bit worn out (broken things here and there, cheap materials) and felt quite overpriced for hostel-like accommodation. A bit annoying not to have an ensuite bathroom but at least we appreciated that it was private. Breakfast was left in the summer heat and was underwhelming for the 15chf paid, but there aren't many options in town so you can't do much better than this. There was a little cockroach on our table at dinner ?

    Central

Too expensive, poor food including old croissants for breakfast, very dark rooms

Fun concept and cool renovation. Location is excellent and the commune has a bike room across from the hotel where you can lock, wash and repair bikes.

In the days before our arrival we were bombarded with emails asking for us to check in online (we even received more emails to check in on line after we had checked in - go figure). We arrived at 16:06 and tried to check in at the kiosk which was not working. We asked the person at the ice cream stand by the kiosk where we could get help and they just shrugged their shoulders. We then went to the bar to ask for help. The bartender then tried to check us in with kiosk and informed us that it was not working and we should come back in an hour. We came back later and there were keys at the bar for us. Our room was very small and was not well cleaned. There was dirt in the drawers and the shower didn’t drain (it drained better after we pulled hair out of the drain). We didn’t sleep well as the cooks and kitchen staff were outside our window talking and smoking until after 11:00 pm. They were quiet after we asked them to not talk outside our window (we should have asked earlier in the evening). Breakfast was nice and checkout smooth. In summary, cool concept and nice hotel - but possible that that the checkin process will be rocky and anticipate very small rooms particularly if you are two people. And, I’ve blocked emails from Peanut as I don’t want my inbox flooded with emails from a hotel - i just want to stay at the hotel and not have a virtual relationship with the hotel.

mediocre breakfast which typically was not integrated in the RM price only to make the room price compatible to other hotels yet, at the end one had to cough up sfr 13

room was unbelievably dark just like a tomb
