    Pros +

    • El Colmenar is a very quiet village surrounded by wonderful nature and mountains. The food in the restaurant was exceptionally delicious! Riom was simple but very clean.
    • The roads too and from are something else from a motorbike riders perspective as we were. Not for the faint hearted and the scenery is stunning. Meals at the hotel were good. Village is very quiet.
    • The hostess was very friendly. The food is lovely and portions are abundant. The beds were comfortable and quit. Perfect stay.

    Cons -

    • The pool was not in operation, a disappointment for our children. This info should be updated on booking.com
    • No staff members spoke eny English no real problem the translation on the phone and hand signals worked well. This really is not a criticism I can't speak Spanish and it is out in the middle of nowhere.
    • Nothing!Maybe the use of a drying room would be good after walking in the poor weather.

We stayed for two nights. The hotel is in a great spot just a couple of minutes walk from the train station, room a good size and very clean and warm.We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant both nights food was was excellent. There’s a couple of bars within walking distance where we also had breakfast and a small local shop for supplies. Many walks from the village ehich were breathtaking even in our wet weather.

Nothing!Maybe the use of a drying room would be good after walking in the poor weather.

Very charming, clean and comfortable. The restaurant is also excellent. The venison was fabulous. The proprietor was very kind and accommodating.

The hotel was excellent and food superb, the garden was well kept and pool well maintained. Parking on site was a bonus.Had a lovely quiet weekend away, shall be returning.

The shower area in the room very small as the bidet was situated within that area, difficult to move and benefit from the shower.

The location to get onto the train to other places was excellent. The swimming pool and restaurant were very nice.

Great rural hotel everything was super-clean and with the hotel just 1 minute from the train station, the location is excellent. The room was pleasant and the staff very friendly.Meals were exceptional, extremely tasty and very well made, with great service by Anna - if you fancy eating off site, there are several bars & eateries just a couple of minutes walk away , which also do great food. The pool was open and sparkling clean, in a very relaxing garden setting, due to it being early in the season, we had the place to ourselves.I cannot stress enough, how relaxing and chilled this place is, I would highly recommend it and, even though it did have two very disappointing features, we would most certainly return.

We sat down to eat the evening we arrived as all other restaurants were closed and after ordering, a couple entered the restaurant with a dog bed and a dog, they proceeded to sit a couple of meters away and order. The restaurant is not the cheapest by Spanish village standards, so I was a little taken aback that the dog was allowed in. I'm afraid that when I spend good money on good food, the only animal I expect to see in a restaurant is the one on my plate - I no more wish to share my dining experience with someone's dog, a goat, a horse, or a chicken - all of which were wandering around in the village - we felt a bit grossed out and uncomfortable, so we moved and ate out on the terrace, which was fine, but we shouldn't have had to - the dog-owners should!I was very disappointed - you may love your dog, no one else does - not interested in any hater comments!Breakfast was less than inspiring. When we went down, there was just two slices of bread, one slice of what appeared to be chopped pork, three slices of very tired looking havarti-esque cheese, the rest was all pre-wrapped mini croissants & simple sponge cakes from Lidl/Mercadona, everything was extremely budget. We did ask for traditional Andalucian breakfast of toast, garlic to rub on, olive oil and freshly blended tomato to finish it off, which was brought and made the difference, but there was no offer of anything, we had to ask if we could have it.Shame such a beautiful rural hotel was somewhat spoiled by it's breakfast & the admittance of animals in the restaurant.

Beautiful location Very quiet and tranquilGreat food in the restaurant Lovely lady running it

Only one thing ,tiny shower .everything else lovely. Definitely go back

    8MichaelPosted on: 5-6-2024

The hotel was in a very nice location, surrounded by trees. Decor was nice and well maintained as was the room. I rang when I arrived and the owner met me a couple of minutes later. Enjoyed a beer on the terrace later and after speaking to another couple of people staying there it sounds like the food was very good too.

Nothing really, plumbing a little noisy, in my room I could hear water hammer in the ceiling several times in the night.

Great spot for the night while walking GR141. Host was kind and helpful and dinner on site was delicious.

Lovely rustic little hotel, comfortable beds. Quiet little village , no complaints . ☺️

The beds were comfortable, and the linen was good. We were able to park in the hotel grounds

The hotel was shut when we arrived despite arriving within the check in times posted. We had to phone to get access. We handed over our passports and paid. The Web page on Booking.com stated that the restaurant would be open; breakfast would be available ; and wi-fi was in the rooms. None of these things were available. We were informed by our host that we could get a meal in town. However, everywhere was closed that evening. We think our host must have known that but was not prepared to even make us a sandwich. After she had left us with the key( and instructions to post it in the letter box in the morning), we realised we had been given the wrong room. Much smaller than the one we were expecting. However, we felt unable to drag her back to premises after our first encounter seemed to make her pretty angry.

This place was a pot of gold at the end of a long, hard and very rainy walking day. We were greeted with much kindness and a great heater in the room. Comfortable, cozy and clean. Who wants anymore at the end of the day.We had a nice meal in the restaurant below which satisfied our hiker hunger. Thank you lady of the house for your kindness.

This was my third time here so I guess it works for me. We walk in this area so it suits from a location viewpoint. I think we were the only guests when we were there which is a bit of a weird experience? However a big thanks to the lady who was managing the place for organising a lovely evening meal.

    It was a bit tired/dated.

the staff were helpful and very friendly. location close to the village was a bonus. the food in the restaurant was exceptional and good value

something that the hotel cannot do anything about! Mountain roads. the weekend we were there it was also the local festival and there was a diversion. the directions to get to the hotel were not good and we only got there because a local helped us by following him. However, once we got there it was great and the festival was brilliant. Very welcoming village

The town is lovely and quaint, the hotel well situated

The lack of small comforts like having a hair dryer, the pool loungers were hard plastic with no cushioning, the personnel all left from 4.30 to 7.30, so no drinks, snacks all afternoon, or even toilets at the pool, unless you went up to your room. For us the worst thing was having our weekend cut in half as you can’t use pool after noon check-out, even if you’re having lunch there - and not even if you want to pay there’s no late check-out! ? had to drive back home in the worst of the heat!

Amazing place. Friendly staff and great food. We enjoyed everything so much that we stayed another day.
