- This old converted watermill was charming. Our room (#5) was right on/over the river, and we fell asleep to the sound of rushing water. The restaurant meal was wonderful!
- Beautiful old mill with a cracking fireplace. Very charming for a couple weekend
- The decoration , the river
Cons -
- Nothing!
- The spa team was not nice
- Despite critical suggestions in previous reviews, disappointments persist. There really should be at least a kettle etc in bedrooms (the only hotel in a dozen used on our trip which did not provide one). Breakfast was weak for the potential of such a good restaurant. There was an overnight business event there when we stayed: staff dealt with its disruption very well, but we might have been warned it would affect use of hotel spaces such as the terrace (where no refreshment service was offered out of dining hours).

This place is my favorite near Nogent. The Castel, the moulin, and the village are wonderful.
I stayed in the chateau, which is an elderly and grand old building. It’s not the Hilton - and so much better because of it. Quite unique.
In many ways this is wonderful: a glorious rural hamlet off the beaten track, a picturesque old mill everyone wants to photograph, a huge bedroom in a quiet annex, a quality restaurant with some good dishes and some terrific people working. Well worth the effort of finding - and nearby Ferte Bernard was an interesting detour too, The pool was too cold for use in September, but in summer would be a good facility, as there is nothing adjacent except quiet strolls if you don't want the spa at the uphill chateau.

Amazing location and facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely try to visit again, although next time we will ask to stay at the castle ???. Well done people, everything was exceptional. Would be nice to rent a bike from the property.

Didn't use the pool as it seemed quite busy but it looked very good. Dinner on the terrace was lovely. Staff were excellent, fantastic setting and great food.
Room was nice but tea and coffee wasn't provided and we couldn't find anyone to request it. Eventually we walked through the otherwise empty bar area and a member of staff walked though so we asked him for drinks. Dinner was great but didn't like that we had to choose our dessert at the start.
Lovely quiet location, authentic traditional French hotel with access to a beautiful Spa and pool. Gorgeous French food. Excellent value for the quality provided.
Old world charm with modern details. Delicious food served by friendly and very hard-working staff. All staff were welcoming and engaging. The outdoor pool was clean and very refreshing.
We had two rooms. The superior room was excellent. The smaller one was a bit pinched, eg nowhere to hang bath towels. On a hot day it was hard to keep the rooms cool… ceiling fans would have helped.
Charming location. Very nice (but expensive) restaurant.
The bed was very short. I’m not tall but my feet hung over the edge.
Great location, lively spa
A little bit tired for the price we paid, thought we were staying in the chateau, but it was closed and we stayed in the mill. Bedrooms a little tired
Lovely historic chateau in beautiful countryside surrounded by its own large walled and gated estate. Whilst I can see why some reviewers might call it shabby to us it was more a delightful, authentic, quirky ancestral home. Our standard double room (30 Heloise) in the main chateau was a good size and unlike the communal hallways and drawing room was modern with a large ensuite shower in an area open to the bedroom. The ensuite toilet was in a separate very small room.Very easy carparking within the inner walled area directly outside the chateau. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was situated in the separate mill buildings, a short walk away from the chateau, which were also characterful with large seated terraces overlooking the river, garden and outside swimming pool. Both evening dinner (reasonable choice from set menu) and breakfast (served to table) were prebooked and very good. The wine list was large and although all drinks are on the expensive side there was a good range of prices to suit most budgets.
1) The walk from the chateau to separate restaurant and pool in the mill buildings, whilst relatively short (around 400 yards), is rather steep and the return uphill journey might not suit the less fit.2) The separate ensuite toilet was in a very small room, more like cupboard, and people larger than me ( I am 5'10'') would struggle to close the door.
The chateau looks amazing and the surrounding area is lovely, lots of car parking and you can use a pool and canoes free of charge. Nice bar and food. Did not have breakfast. The room badly let it down.
Our room in the chateau was modern and badly finished (like a botched DIY job) and quite scruffy, not what I was expecting at all. We arrived on a motorbike, unloaded only to find the reception was 250m down the hill.
Location fantasticFood excellentVery near easy and long cycling way disused railway line
Meal prices pretty high
Dinner was fantastic.Staff very efficient and friendly Lovely location
I liked our room in the castle. Everything was very clean and the decoration was cute.
Spa NOT included, they charge you 35€ per person even if you don’t go the full day. A bit of a joke, I think.
Beautiful chateau and fabulous Mill. Very friendly helpful staff. We had a very enjoyable evening meal at the Mill. Absolutely stunning area with lots of wild life ??X
