Chanac is a beautiful little village. The rooms were ok, and the people were nice (we were able to secure our bikes inside the hotel). There is a nice shady terrace inside the hotel where you can have drinks.
The hotel had clearly seen better days, it was a little scruffy, and no food was served (apart from breakfast), but there was a nice pizza place just around the corner. The plumbing in the bathroom seemed a bit old (there was a bad smell in the morning), and the wifi only supported one connection. The road in front of the hotel also saw a surprising amount of traffic given the (somewhat) remote location.
