About
Nestled in Champagnac-de-Belair, in the heart of the Périgord region, Le Moulin du Roc was built in 1670 on the Dronne, a river which runs through its grounds. The property is 3.1 mi from Brantôme. The 15 rooms of the Moulin Du Roc are divided between the 2 buildings of the Moulin, interconnected by a maze of footbridges, terraces and intimate staircases. Each offers a happy mix of vintage furniture and the comforts of modern life. All overlook the river whose waters lull the visitor to rest. The restaurant is indisputably one of the best tables in the Périgord. The chef exploits all the richness of local produce with precise, yet seemingly simple cooking. The exceptional wine cellar offers more than 900 different varieties. Everything is there for you to spend a pleasant moment in one of the Moulin's 2 dining rooms or in the terraces outside, by the river. The restaurant is closing every tuesday.

- The charm, the grounds and the helpful staff and well-equipped rooms. It was especially interesting to see all the old implements incorporated into the design.
- The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and tastefully decorated. In general, the hotel itself was very authentic as it was an old mill building. The dinners and breakfasts were very delicious. We loved it!There are not many activities to do near the hotel. You can visit the nearby villages by car.
- Good breakfast. Beautiful dining room. Polite and friendly staff.
Cons -
- Just a note. If you are a tall person the old mill may have you ducking through doorways.Parking a big car in the lot takes some skill.

The food was good and wines excellent
Like warm showers
The sound of water, the sense of it and the beautiful setting by the river. It is of the best kind of Ryokan sensual experience in Japan. So comfortable. Caring team throughout. Personally over the years I have come to love the area and this hotel is so well positioned. The restaurant is an experience too.
This is both an hotel and a dining experience. You probably need the to take in both, to enjoy the whole, but at a cost. Personally I found it okay but there is no restaurant ‘discount’ from being a resident that I can see.
Beautiful rooms, excellent food and fantastic service
The hotel and grounds were exquisite. Everything was finished to a very high standard. Our room was lovely, even if a little small. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very attractive. The hotel had free loaner e-bikes that we used to explore the surrounding area.
Getting to the hotel necessitating driving through portions of the Perigord that we would not otherwise have visited. We were underwhelmed by Brantome, and disappointed to find that we would have to wait over an hour for the next tour of Villars Cave (Grotte)
Such an elegant hotel. Our room and terrace were lovely, extremely comfortable and well maintained. The staff were exceptional, especially Emiline who seemed to be the unlucky one who was always available to answer all of our assorted questions about the surrounding area. She is delightful. The restaurant, Roda, was outstanding. The food and service exceptional with an elegant setting.
If your life revolves around your laptop please note the internet was difficult, bumping us offline repeatedly during our stay with service too weak to make phone calls. Housekeeping was a bit haphazard and hurried...a dirty cleaning cloth left in the room one day, glasses not exchanged for fresh ones on two days and the sink drain removed and left to the side another morning...yuck. One evening when the restaurant was closed it was suggested by the hotel to order a meal from a takeaway service which the hotel works with. The food was extremely bland and boring.
Incredible setting lots and lots charming features set to the relaxing sound track of the river alongside. Lovely staff and superb breakfast. Unfortunately on this occasion we didn’t get to try the restaurant but I have every confidence that it would be worth coming back for.
It’s too far from home for us to visit every weekend ?

WC room is tinySame dinner menu 2 days in succession
Everything, from staff, location and restaurant, all were excellent. The bed was luxurious and super comfortable.
It’s a beautiful property, the location and grounds are lovely. We stayed here before about 4 years ago and loved it.
Dinner menu was drastically reduced compared to our last stay? No tasting menu. Food was OK I guess. Restaurant was very quiet..compared to our last visit. Rooms are nice enough, the balcony is dark and a bit grim In cloudy weather. The notice on the coffee station states”nothing is placed in the room without thought or consideration “ I’m paraphrasing. But to boil the kettle for coffee..you had to locate a socket close enough to the floor as the lead is so short?! Not good placement. Honestly, nothing was really luxurious in the room. Shower control was outside the shower/wet room..odd! (Apparently this room has been refurbished…) Breakfast we had in the room, coffee was cold on arrival, the bread had been heated in an oven I think so it was a bit hard as it cooled. It was all just OK, not amazing as I remembered it. Staff I met are lovely, helpful and pleasant. A major asset to the hotel. Would I stay again..not sure TBH.
The gardens most of all. They are magical. The spaces are well furnished as well.
Our room was over the kitchen. The small of cooking would come in
Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. We arrived a little for lunch but they found room for us and had a delicious meal.We had our lively young dog and our 4 year old with us and the staff could not have been more attentive.Fabulous venue, beautiful setting and incredible food. Highly recommended
Nothing. All was great!
Excellent restaurant serving superb food with great service on the terrace over looking the river
Bit out in the sticks but worth while for a short stay
The best hotel we've ever stayed in. Everything about it was perfect - the location, the pool, the tennis court, the staff, the restaurant.
Nothing - everything was perfect.
The stay at the mill is a time out with all the amenities: beautiful locality, both rooms and the catering area and the garden with pool. Professional, attentive service and fine food. However, the menu is not changed (frequently), at least not within the 4 days of my stay. Since the selection is not very large, this is a small drawback.
Booking fees are passed on to the guest. Per day a whopping 40 euros are charged - not applicable when booking directly! Very annoying to simply roll over the costs to the guest - of course without being informed beforehand!
