Casa de Valcova - Boutique Hotel

The breakfast each morning was excellent. The hosts were friendly, conversational, and helpful with suggestions for activities. We stayed outside of Porto on purpose (about 20-25 minutes), so you would need a car. It provided a great place from which to do various day trips.

Our trip to Portugal included a stay at Casa de Valcova. The owners Illidio and Asuncion have been the best hosts we have ever encountered in all our European trips. Their warmth and friendliness always made us feel at home.Their restoration of a 300 year old stone farm house was outstanding! The decor with antiques and modern facilities is a great combination. Breakfast with homemade marmalade and fresh baked pastries was delicious. We can't wait to go back!!!

We were welcomed by the wonderful host couple, who made us feel at home from the first moment. They always had a smile, great advice for things to see, and allowed us to enjoy their old beautifully renovated fruit farm house at our leisure, including games, musical instruments and a child playcorner. The breakfast was legendary, with personalised special treats prepared by the host lady for each of us, different each morning. Many fruits were from their own gardens, and the guests could enjoy left-over croissants and similar throughout the day, together with free tea and espresso. Our room was small but beautiful, with high ceilings, a great air conditioning system and all amenities , including the best beach towels to use at the nice infinity swimming pool, with views over the green mountains. We will gladly visit again.

The host informed us that the window above the room door would be blackened. The room has a slightly musty air.

Location was perfect for a getaway from a busy Porto streets, place to relax and unwind. Property has a lovely pool. Staff is amazing, ready to help with locations and places to visit nearby. Breakfast was exceptional, large selection of tasty foods. We enjoyed every day staying at Casa de Valcova and we are grateful for the hosts to have us! Thank you!

The hosts were very nice, informative, and welcoming, treating us like family. Room amenities were nice, very comfortable. The breakfast was so good; breads, jams, pastries, bacon, cheeses.

A true hidden oasis. Off the main road. A drive to restaurants and supermarkets. Phenomenal and friendly staff very accommodating. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious and offered fresh cooked bacon and eggs. The home-baked goods were exceptional. Would definitely recommend. A drive to porto for the day.

The restored property is a jewel. The owners are exceptional in their welcoming spirit and pride of ownership. Outstanding property and the breakfast was just amazing. We live bed our stay.

The accommodation was to a high standard nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was outstanding set us up for the day. They gave us helpful advice on where to go and best way to get there. Would highly recommend Casa de Valcova.

Amazing accomodation with a very nice and welcoming host. The breakfast was unique with lots of selfmade jams and cakes. We recommend everyone to stay at this place.

The property was a stunning complex of traditionally renovated buildings including its own church . It was clean and beautifully maintained. The room leading out to a private roof top terrace was exquisite.

There was nothing to dislike. It is perfect for those wanting a relaxing break away from high tourist traffic immersed in true Portuguese culture. A car hire may have been a practical choice based on location.

The country side is amazing, the owners were brilliant, very helpful and generous.Several acres of blueberries, and they gave us a big carton of them when we left, nothing was to much trouble?

Place with soul, very hospitable hosting. We came by mororcycles during the night- it was not problem . Amazing breakfast , very comfortable bed with very nice linen . We want to go back there sometime. ?

Great place for a vacation. We stayed here during our roadtrip in Spain and Portugal. Amazing location close to nature, with a good pool and surrounded by farms. The hosts (owners) and the rest staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner had many stories to tell us about the place. They also left us with a special gift - Blueberry Marmelade from the fresh berries from their farm.Porto is 30-40 mins away by car.

Very friendly owner and service people. Extraordinary lovely breakfast with local fruits and specially prepared eggs.
