Grand Hôtel Abbatiale Bénodet, Originals Relais

The view from our room was fabulous! The king-sized bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, and the room had two chairs. The breakfast buffet (which was additional) was extensive. The location was good, right along the water.

Not really anything. I didn’t like the pillows, but I recognize that’s subjective. I was also surprised to be charged for a cup of tea in the evening.

Big room, free private parking, close to the sea & downtown, clean & friendly staff. Breakfast was very good. Lots of choice!

For a 4 stars hotel, no slippers, no soaps & shower gel

I couldn’t speak more highly of this Hotel. The staff are fantastic, the views are spectacular, the rooms are spacious (often smaller in France) and the beds are super comfortable. 10 out of 10 ?.

Room was very dated and could use a refresh. Bathroom smelled strongly of drains. Breakfast was plentiful but all the hot items were cold.

The room was spacious; breakfast great (even with hot items like scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages); parking in the courtyard with direct access to the hotel.

The WIFI was not so good and had frequent failures, at least in my room on the far end of the building. The environment has only few options for meals.

It is tired and needs a refresh. I thought it was pricey for what it was.

Excellent location

Reception initially unhelpful. The cosy room should be avoided. The standard room was acceptable. The hotel was once grand but no longer. It requires complete renovation. No coffee or tea making facilities or fridge. Worn carpets and poor joinery, doors etc.

The location was great, the bed was comfortable and good bath/shower.

The hotel and room look a bit old. The breakfast had a lot of options but was a bit messy.

Excellent location with secure private parking. Room was spacious. And bathroom well appointed although small step up to it was a trip hazard!Good breakfast buffet with a range of hot and cold, sweet and savoury. Great coffee. Pleasant comfortable lounge with games and large TV screens (we were there during the Olympics). There is a small bar in the reception but we didn’t use it. One good feature was the provision of a glass bottle in the room and a chilled water machine in the restaurant for refilling it at any time.

As others have said the decor is a little tired and the room was rather stuffy as there is no air conditioning although it was possible to open the windows. Staff were generally polite except the receptionist who ignored us to continue a general conversation with others when we explained we needed to check out fast.

The Grand Hotel Benodet is indeed a ‘grand old lady’ and oozes charm. The hotel is in a fabulous location with restaurants, bars, shops and a beautiful marina right on the doorstep. The staff were so welcoming and professional. We had a room on the 5th floor overlooking the marina and it had some amazing views both in the morning and the evening. I would recommend this ‘grand old lady’ to anyone.

In our room the bed "tremble" when somebody walk by the aisle.

The receptionist was excellent and incredibly helpful, nothing was too much. The breakfast was good with a variety of choice but for an 4star hotel I would have expected cutlery and crockery on the tables. You had to queue a while for tea and coffee. However it was very convenient to the port, a super restaurant nearby and with free parking which is a bonus.

The rooms were a little small and the bathroom really tiny, my husband who is on crutches struggled with this. As a result we couldn’t stay a second night as it was too small. That said the bathroom was very clean and the shower was excellent. For what is marked as a 4star hotel our expectations were much higher than what we got. There were also no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. I would have also expected bottles for shower gel and soap rather than individual packaging. Overall we were disappointed. But with a few changes it could be an excellent hotel.
