    Pros +

    • We were upgraded to stay in the grand hotel , so we had a better room than booked. Parking was very secure but hard to find the entrance.
    • Location was good and private area for parking motorcycles.
    • Simple and clean , comfortable bed

    Cons -

    • Hard to find the entrance because both hotels share a reception and parking, so beware and check your emails, which I clearly didn’t.
    • Very old, bit tired and remote check in at a different hotel very strange . No staff actually onsite from what we could see. More of an overspill hotel.
    • It was all good

The central location was very useful and there was a good amount of on street parking on the opposite side of the road. The lift, which is easily accessed from the back entrance is an easy way to reach the higher floors.

The wifi wasn't too helpful and brought up warnings of security threats, one of which locked my booking.com account. The whole place would benefit from a coat of paint and I expect there will be improvements now that the Grand Hotel has control of the property. Those with limited mobility may find the steep hill the hotel is located on to be challenging.

    The location

Very very dated and parts of the room were grubby. There was also the smell of drains in the bathroom. The grouting of the shower was very dirty. I think it was a lot of money for the state of the room

Breakfast was basic but tasty. First day was particularly good. Second day, ran out of a lot of food early

The lift. We got stuck in the lift and didn’t have access to anybody to help us.

Excellent staff, upgraded our room, friendly and very helpful

    9BarryPosted on: 10-8-2023

We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the Grand Hotel at no extra cost

No tea-making facility in the room.

We needed a convienient bed for the night which this was at a good price. But very basic.

Did exactly what we needed but don’t have high expectations of bargain. One of our rooms smelt damp and it turned out the carpet in front of the bathroom was wet

Everything was of an acceptable standard. Nothing special, nothing wrong.

When we made the booking we thought we were booking for the Grand Hotel on a 'genius deal' it turned out the booking was for their sister budget hotel some distance up the road. The receptionist at The Grand Hotel changed our booking to the Grand Hotel, needless to say it cost us extra so not sure if we got a deal or not.To Booking.com - hotels should not be allowed to use their 'good' hotel name on the booking page of their 'other' budget hotel ... whatever the photos or small print - it's misleading at best, if not a con.

Great location in Benodet. Excellent reception staff at the main hotel. Good price, but very basic room.Swimming pool looked lovely.

It is called a Hotel, but this venue is actually rooms only. There are no usual hotel niceties. We found it clean, reasonably cheap, no frills, basic accommodation. It is a dated building and some refurb is evident, but pre-owned furniture and tatty facilities and finish don't help it to sparkle. Work may be on-going.Saw the poor reviews beforehand, and gave it a chance. Disappointing... But you get what you pay for afterall. Booked two nights, but only stayed one.

    It was functional

Very small and dated. The shower screen door was broken and the window was also broken. The curtains did not close.

    Location, staff, cleaness, swimming pool

Access to swimming pool (only via front door, street), narrow entry to the car park, not clear sign on the hotel that this was the hotel had to drive around couple of times. No fridge or kettle.

    6ChrisPosted on: 7-15-2023

    Comfy beds

Very out dated, stained carpets, damaged furniture and foisting smelling.

    Satff and price/quality ratio

Not warm enough but solved with another radiator

Very good breakfast in the proper and luxurious Grand Hotel a short walk away from ‘annexe’ - excellent service from breakfast staff. Good swimming pool - invaluable asset for young children. Central location in very up market holiday resort- can walk or get miniature train to the main beach.Excellent beach club for children 15 mins walk away- 8 euros per hour if you just turn up - great value. Huge comfortable bath A short walk to the boat jetty for all river cruises etc.

Although spotlessly clean with comfortable beds , the rooms have not been refurbished since the 1970s I would imagine- decoration was blue emulsion covering every service and pink bathroom. Cracked tiles, rotten basin cabinet held together with rotten gaffer tape - many people would find this wholly unacceptable. Parking is via a really narrow archway - and if a 4 WD is parked opposite the archway you’re in trouble. Trick is to back in- I went in front ways the first time and caused expensive damage to drivers door- simply putting in rubber surround would have prevented this. Hotel did refund my parking fees in total but I’m still seriously out of pocket. There is free parking however on street relatively close by. Basement level where swimming poolIs is very run down and abandoned- but pool itself is in lovely garden.

clean, security code to enter main door, a minute’s walk from the main hotel to have breakfast.

room was on the small side to accommodate twin beds and a chest of drawers which was not accessible.

Decent swimming pool, good central location in Benodet.

Our room was in a very poor condition - peeling wallpaper, broken ceiling tiles etc. The room decor was very dated and the bathroom smelt of sewage because the shower and sink drain directly into the soil pipe (allowing nasty odours to come back up). You have to walk through the parking area to get to the swimming pool. On the hot days the room temperature was too high, some air conditioning is needed.

Close to the centre and the pool was a bonus

Pool closed too early, would be nice to relax in the evening

Great price for the room for two nights. Fortunately weather was fine as I had to collect key from another hotel 50m away. After check in I received a passcode for access to the hotel. Room basic but acceptable and fitted with a TV. I've stayed in rooms with no TV and mouldy shower cubicles so it was great to see a spotless room. A perfect low-budget stay in a great town with plenty of dining facilities and seaside setting.

Room needed some maintenance attention (cracked tile in front of washbasin, torn ceiling tile, peeling plastic strip coming away from the desk). I rang ahead to check parking and was told there was a car park. It proved impossible to access it as the entry was so narrow. Cars parked down the hill on the left side meant there was no chance to manoeuvre my car to gain access. I was forced to park on the road both evenings. Small point but was disappointed the maid could not offer me a spoon as I'd taken my kettle to make tea and coffee in my room as there were no facilities. A wooden stick would have sufficed or a pencil!
