Hotel Solar Dos Mascarenhas

Amazing experience, mainly because Solar is pet friendly and for us make the difference, in a country that almost without pet friendly facilities. Plus the staff, amazing, warm, happy, kind and polite, and the amenities, like wheel chair acessibility, pet friendly, all the caryng and offer in breakfast, with bio, local, european offers.

Didin't saw recycle bins, i think a mini-freezer in the rooms, and a water boiler would be great.

Room size was nice. Breakfast was excellent.

“Free parking” equaled parking on narrow street hotel was on. No designated parking for property. A bit misleading.

The facility is beautiful, and within short walking distance to many of the main attractions in the city. The staff bent over backwards to meet our needs and took the time and energy to do so. The breakfast buffet was lovely.

Parking is a challenge if you are driving there (very limited street parking and one space in a garage at the hotel). Not a deal killer, but be aware that parking a car near the hotel could be a challenge.We weren't able to get AC in our room to work, even with help from the receptionist -- but ended up being comfortable anyway.

Excellent stylish hotel in beautiful Vila Viçosa. Great breakfast and very comfortable rooms. Stayed several times and always a joy. Very helpful and friendly with great restaurants and bars close by but quiet and peaceful.

This hotel is a wonderful example of adaptive use. The front part of the hotel is housed in a 16th century building while the rooms are all brand new construction. It is a beautiful space, clean lines, and comfortable furnishings. Plenty of places to lounge throughout the property, both inside and outside. The breakfast was outstanding, with great options to fit all eating styles. I especially enjoyed trying the regional cheeses. Will definitely go back when I’m in that part of the country.

Great location, spotlessly clean, good value for money and they accept dogs.

Bathroom had a bath with a shower over it, awkward if you have a dodgy knee.

Loved this place, the owner/manager was very helpful and charming. Made room for our motorcycles in garage during our 1 night stay.

We traveled with two animals, the hotel in the comments gives a price for an animal of 10 euros / night, but in the end, the price was 15 euros / night, so for two animals the payment was 30 euros, which was half the cost of the room per night, but no additional amenities were provided.If you book too close to arrival, it may come as a surprise, especially for a non-refundable rate, and booking won't help you.

Excellent breakfast! Staff were all very pleasant. Room was very clean with air conditioning. Tea room was lovely too. Loved the mixing of old and new arquitecture.

Hotel is very new and nicely decorated, rooms and all common areas are vey specious, breakfast very nice. I wish we had time to use the pool and relax in tea room. Parking in town was easy and we were offered a garage space in the hotel.

I loved the people working there. Everyone was so kind. On our last day, they saw us enjoying the sun before our check-out and told us that we could stay a little longer if we wanted to and not to worry about checkout. Awesome! We had zero problems while staying there.

What a wonderful gem of a hotel! We loved the modern renovation of an ancient building, the delightful indoor and outdoor public spaces and the marble sculptures thand art work on display. Added bonus of complementary tea and cake throughout the day! Breakfast was at least the standard of a good 4-star hotel.

Very convenient location in a quaint town, close to sights and restaurants. Nice breakfast. Lovely artwork exposed.

The bed was too hard. I liked the modern design, but the room could have used a rug and more soft furnishings.
