- NEVER book at this hotel unless you are a big fan of mold and mildew! We could not even stay in the room or building 10 minutes before choking. We left immediately after explaining to the one person staffing the hotel; her associate never called us.
- We loved our stay in Chateau Meyre! It is perfectly maintained and updated where needed. The room was very spacious, modernly designed without loosing its authentic touch. It was also very noice isolated which its important considering that it is an old building. The breakfast was adequately priced. They also offered free coffee, tea, and biscuits throughout the day, which is a perk well received. The pool was clean and great to have during the summer time. We enjoyed reading in the gardens and shrewd library space. Their wine is also top of the line in the area (I wish we had space fire a case in our trip) Finally, the staff (specially Luis) was very friendly, accommodating, and kept everything running.
- We loved everything about this place! Beautiful property, a historical building, beautiful gardens, great pool and comfortable rooms!Service was great, breakfast was delicious and the wine was excellent! We would like to come back again in the future
Cons -
- This hotel stinks, literally! It is moldy, isolated, desolate, run down & shabby. I would rate it -5 if I could. The staff person said her associate would contact us the next day to discuss a refund for two nights; no big surprise, that did not happen.
- You have to plan your meals carefully. Breakfast there is no problem but the bite does not run a restaurant (although you can order some cheese and charcuterie with 24hrs notice), and the closes town has few restaurants. Also, the staff is taking care of the guests in the chateau so if you call they might not answer immediately. Be patient, they will call you back if you leave a message as soon as they are done with the onsite guests.
- Nothing to say, We loved it!

Nothing to say, We loved it!
Beautiful chateau, very clean and comfortable rooms, super lovely staff who made us feel very welcome (and thank you Louis for the brilliant tasting!). Highly recommend as a base for wine tasting in this area
Concierge very helpful with booking dinners, tastings etc.
Breakfast a little pricy.
**Disappointing Stay at Château Meyre**We were really looking forward to our stay at Château Meyre, expecting a luxurious experience inside the château itself, as advertised. Unfortunately, we were left extremely disappointed upon arrival when we were escorted to an annex building on the property. This critical detail was never made clear during the booking process. The annex building was nowhere near the level of charm and grandeur we had anticipated. It felt more like a standard, impersonal guesthouse than part of the historic château. The rooms were plain and lacked the elegance and atmosphere we had been looking forward to. It was frustrating to feel misled, especially considering the premium price we paid for what we believed would be a château experience.Furthermore, while the château itself is beautiful, guests staying in the annex are not allowed to access many of the main château areas except for limited common spaces. This made us feel further removed from the charm and history that drew us to the property in the first place.Overall, the lack of transparency about the accommodation and the disappointing quality of the annex building left us feeling that our stay did not meet expectations. If you’re looking for an authentic château experience, be sure to confirm exactly where you’ll be staying, or you may find yourself as disappointed as we were.
Friendly and helpful staff.
No bar or Restaurant which seems odd for a 4 Star Hotel and it was certainly inconvenient, made worse by an inability to get Taxis or UBER. If this had been described as a 4 Star GUEST HOUSE I would be a lot more understanding.
I would have liked to stay in the chateau but in the right is what looks like a motel attached and the room was very bland, on the website the rooms looked beautiful but these must have been in the mail chateaux?
If you need food other than breakfast you need to order a platter there is no restaurant
Lovely staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable room.
No “chateau experience”. There was no atmosphere.
Lovely chateaux with Marie giving us a great wine tour and tasting . Great pool and garden area
Staff great. Location great. Pool excellent.
Room cramped. Very hot, fan but no AC. Breakfast steep at 20 E. Tired.
Breakfast in the lovely Chateau was excellent. We also enjoyed the garden and, had it not been for the rain would have enjoyed the pool too! Interesting to taste the wines produced there - with more time I would have visited the cellars too. The Margaux was my favorite.
Its a drive to a decent restaurant, but there are many about. The internal window between our lovely room and bathroom could benefit from a 'privacy' curtain.
I very much liked the interior atmosphere of the Chateau and the surrounding garden ,full of flours , greenery and vineyards
I didn't like the additional rooms extention at the side of the Chateau , which were a kind different from the architectural style of the main building
Very elegant and comfortable. Lovely vineyard
Hampered by not having a restaurant you can walk to.
Beautiful château and garden. The room was very comfortable and clean. The best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone was so nice, welcoming, and friendly. We enjoyed riding the bikes around the vineyards and the lovely charcuterie in the garden after.
The room was modernized and spacious - both the room itself as well as the bathroom. The staff were also incredibly helpful; we had little-to-no French and they supported with recommendations and bookings in the area. It was an easy drive to the surrounding chateaus and a great "basecamp" for our adventures.
The furnishings in the shared spaces showed wear (such as tears in the arms of the couches) and the mattresses could use replacing. Small thing: I'd also suggest that the Chateau provide guests with wine bottle openers and wine glasses alongside the coffee cups / tea mugs already provided in rooms.
The interiors and exterior of the chateau were simply splendid—a delightful garden, a magnificent library, an excellently appointed dining room, and a charming bedroom. The breakfast, while adequate, did not quite live up to its cost. However, the unlimited supply of tea and coffee was a welcome touch. The pool area was well-equipped with ample sunbeds. There was convenient private parking available. We particularly enjoyed the opportunity to partake in a tasting on the delightful terrace. The charcuterie board was appealing, and the accompanying wine was very reasonable for its price. Several staff members were very friendly and attentive.
The primary dissatisfaction stems from the excessive cost. At €75 per night, this hotel would be marvellous; at €150, it would be acceptable; but at €290 per night, it's utterly indefensible. For such a steep price, one would at least expect basic amenities like a bin in the dining room (none were provided, and we were instructed to leave rubbish on the table), blackout curtains in the bedrooms, and a functioning lock on the main door (ours was broken and required fiddling to secure). Additionally, I anticipated more proactive service from the staff, rather than having to approach the reception for every minor detail—how to close the [broken] lock, where and when the pool was available, and so on.Furthermore, our room door was not properly before we arrived, inviting an unwelcome array of spiders and biting insects. It was also not made clear that we could request scrambled eggs at breakfast—a discovery only made by observing other guests.Noise was another significant issue. Despite selecting a garden-facing room to avoid road noise, we were greeted by an incessant mechanical drone akin to a washing machine at full spin. The staff seemed surprisingly oblivious to this noise, which was clearly audible. Using a spectrum analyzer confirmed it was not my imagination, showing noise levels peaking at 100Hz/58db—a persistent annoyance that didn't cease at night. Attempts to mitigate it with earplugs were futile; the noise permeated everything, leading to a dreadful first night's sleep of barely four hours. The overall experience was severely marred by these issues.
The service at the hotel was brilliant. We were welcomed as we drove into the car park, given a tour of the hotel and a wine tasting. We didn’t really want to eat our, and so we got cheese and charcuterie from the nearby supermarket, with the hotel setting the table for us. The breakfast was good too.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.Rooms were a great size & very comfortable.Gardens are beautiful.
Very friendly and helpful staff and a good location for exploring the area. Great breakfast and a comfortable room
