- Perfect location to explore a medieval town with off-street parking. Great frankonian cuisine and "Gem¿tlichkeit."
- Good location and bed was comfortable.
- Location was super good ? food was amazing but less very small portion. Beer ? was fantastic. Hotel is very old . It's was warm no airconditioning no fan. Shower is old extremely slow. But the city around Hotel was super ?
Cons -
- Climb to second (= third in US) floor is no joy with bad knees and/or hips - but typical in a German gasthaus.
- Shower needs deep clean and re-caulking as there is significant lime buildup on the doors. One of the sheets had a hole in it.
- If they work . On shower ? and also some cooling system the rest change bathroom . That place is fantastic ?

Great kitchen. Try the Schaufele. In the center of old town with plenty of free parking on site.
The Gasthof zum Kauzen was perfect for a quiet, relaxing holiday. It is easily reached by foot from the Ochsenfurt train station, and is located centrally in the town, with easy access to wineries, biking and hiking trails, as well as to shops and cafes. The restaurant in the guesthouse serves amazing home-cooked meals in traditional Franconian style. The guesthouse operators are welcoming, kind, and helpful. For an inexpensive and peaceful vacation, stay here and take the train or ride a bike into Wurzburg (rather than staying in Wurzburg).
They gave me the largest room dedicated for a family. You can eat menues typical for "Franken" Bavaria. It is an inn typical. The restaurant is totally made of wood. It is a very lovely city medieval with typical buildings.
This is a lovely old fashioned inn in a wonderful medieval town, which is a delight to stroll around and take pictures. Also had a delightful beer garden.
It was a beautiful trip and I really enjoyed it and excellent hospitality and I am welcomed byMs. Michael
i I would like to stay at the Kauzen hotel every time I come to Ochsenfurt
Breakfast was so good I had 2 Brōtchen every day. Staff was fantastic. Location was perfect. We will come again.
Maybe the shower but it did the job.
Beautiful location right in the middle of the town square. Very nice people. Our guests arrived 45 minutes late and they stayed after hours just to make sure they were comfortable. Breakfast was also very good.
Everything was outstanding
This is a lovely little hotel in a delightful town. I really felt like I was eating with the locals in the restaurant.
Too bad the weather was so hot.
Very good located, it has certainly a long history. Very friendly, also pet friendly. Breakfast was good. We were also dining here and also enjoying a local beer.
The room was spacious and comfortable. It's located very central in the old town of Ochsenfurt. The staff was exceptional friendly. Breakfast/food was good.
Not much. The bathroom was a little bit cold, even with the radiator at maximum. Besides that everything was good.
A quite traditional and a very comfy at the same time. All you wil need is there. The owner of the hotel (a real Lady) is always there to answer your questions. The cleaning is superb. The atmosphere is quite familiar and there were people that were there not for the first time. And why not, if the Wellcome and the quality meet each other. The last but not the least, the hotel suited quite well to the picturesque landscape and the traditional village.
Very helpful staff. On arrival my booking had not been received. The Hotel was initially able to accommodate me for 2 of 3 nights, and they immediately made arrangements with a nearby hotel for me to stay on the 3rd night. In fact the following morning, they received a cancellation, and it was not necessary for me to relocate. Easy to find on the main street in the historic old town, and yet only about 5 minutes walk from the railway station. Very traditional property, my room had some fairly creaky floorboards. Buffet / help yourself breakfast. Would recommend.
great location and very friendly staff (even with limited English there were plenty smiles!). “1x vegetarian” in the instructions had been translated as our whole party being vegan and the boss lady had gone out and bought lots of vegan options specifically!! The dinners are typical Franconian) good salads too) and the restaurant was always busy. The rooms are large and comfy and, though dated, are kept clean. The shower had good pressure and was always hot. There was free parking at the back of the hotel.
People have mentioned the cooking smells but you get used to it! It would have been great to have a kettle in the room but it was fine to buy a tea and take it to the room.
Room was big and in good location.
First it was dirty, it was a combination of old and dirty. Bathroom was not clean, was very cold in the room, windows were dirty and the smell was a combination of old plus with the smell that was coming from the kitchen was horrible. The smell of cooking from the kitchen was coming up in the room and was not nice.
The price quality of the room and the place in the village
The shower was broke and the bathroom not clean behind the door
VERY friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts were great and the food was good.
Rooms were clean but outdated and smelled a bit musty.
Nice old hotel in an ancient city. Really good breakfast and tasty cuisine, we ordered diner and it was very well done! Workers are friendly and always try to satisfy all the requests and speak English, that helped a lot in communication! Hotel is located in the center of the city and has free parking, which is a huge benefit! Cause parking is a big problem in Germany in general and in such small streets especially. Prefect for a short-term stay. Wi-fi connection was pretty good.
The bed was not comfortable and hot in the room despite open windows for some reason.
