Pros +
- As EV 15 cyclists to the Hoek van Holland, the location was superb. Nice breakfast at the sister hotel America
- Location evening clerk helpful with luggage up stairs
- We annually visit family in the UK at this time. We use the Stena Ferry from the Hoek, So this venue is ideal for that purpose. Accommodation is good and price about average for here. Clean, comfortable, with everything needed, and a restaurant on site. Plenty of parking on site.
Cons -
- unfortunately, we wanted to eat dinner at the restaurant there- having cycled through 80 km winds all day-but they told us upon arrival that there was a preplanned function.
- No lift, minimal availability of staff. Expensive restaurant. Steep stairs.
- It is clear that the Original Restaurant must have provided the land to build the hotel . They are completely separate businesses, and the reception in the restaurant area just takes the payment and issues the key. This might be an issue if there was any problem, although we have used them for a number of years and had no problem yet.Breakfast is not provided , but there is an arrangement with a hotel in the town to offer this. It is a short walk away. It is OK for us, but might not suit everyone.

Very lovely staff very clean room 100% recommend it brilliant location 5 mins from Ferry. One of the cleanest hotels so far! Brilliant time spent well worth it! There is a Kebab shop Shoarma & Pizzeria Sabra abut 10 minutes walk amazing kebabs and pizzas there must try! People are so friendly very nice and kind. Well worth the staying and very happy with the hotel.
The train track is next to the room so the trams passing by till 12pm ish so quite loud every time it passes. No trams at night so can sleep well.
Next to the ferry port. Also has the sprinter service next to it. Was able to take train from Amsterdam airport, and then use ferry the next day back to UK.
Comfortable beds, good sized room, free parking, very friendly staff, decent curtains to block early morning light. Would definitely stay here again when using the ferry.
Right next to the train tracks. Trains could be heard through the night but we're not excessive, and ear plugs were provided. Tap placement over the sink was awkward, too far back. Bathroom needed better lighting, the mirror light was practically non-existent.
The room was perfect and super luxurious for the price. They had thought about the little things that make you feel welcome, like chocolates and good night cards on the pillows. It was spotless. The staff were so friendly as well and the dinner we had in the restaurant was fantastic.
The only negative was on us. We were a little underdressed for the restaurant in the evening, and we had nothing fancier to put on. However, only we seamed to notice. The management and staff were super friendly and welcoming.
Good rooms, good location with parking. Breakfast was good. Very good restaurant on site. Good value for money.
Friendly staff. Comfortable room. Good location for boarding Stena Line.Excellent dinner at the restaurant. Breakfast in the morning was good selection of food. Easy walking distance to shops and beach.
Probably the train line running outside but didn’t affect our sleep as we only stayed for one night.
Perfect location from the ferry port.
The stairs up to room 1 were steep and difficult to get baggage up and down.
The location of the hotel right on the sea front and being able to watch the shipping coming and going from the restaurant area was amazing. The walk along the pavement to the beach was lovely too. Plenty of local history to see on the way to the beach area. The hotel room was spacious and comfortable with a large window overlooking the rear of the hotel. There are plenty of flat parking areas and spaces for parking our motorcycle. The restaurant food was good but pricey for what you got.It would be nice if there was an information leaflet on the history of the building and its original use in the room.
There is a dangerous gap (1cm) between the bathroom door(when opened) and the cupboard, housing the fridge, and where you hang clothes. I trapped my hand within the gap the first time I used the bathroom. I had bruised fingers for several days and broke an antique gold ring as a result. I reported the accident to the staff, but they did not seem concerned about the incident. The cupboard with the fridge and clothes got very warm inside and was concerning.
Reception friendly and helpful (we had a car problem and they did their best to help). Room compact but very comfortable and ideal for an overnight stop for the England ferry. Beautiful weather and the location made it a pleasant location, view over the port. Beautifully renovated building with fascinating history.Breakfast at Hotel America - just a short stroll away - ideal start to the day!
Maybe more British programmes on the TV :)
The bike lock up. The shower room. Tea & coffee facilities.
The two beds were at right angles to each other.
Location
On booking we weren’t informed that there was a running event just outside the hotel, also not informed that the after party event was held basically right outside the hotel rooms and the very loud music with the bass music turned up full blast, made trying to get to sleep impossible, to be fair it did stop at exactly 11pm and almost immediate silence, and in the morning you wouldn’t have known anything was held there. Also the breakfast was served at another hotel 400m away.
Very good room. Everything we needed. Facilities nearby. Reasonable price. Close to Ferry Terminal.
Trains were quite noisy, but they stop running overnight. There was some sort of race taking place, and we couldn't use the car park. Had to leave the car in the town. Also couldn't get hold of any staff in the morning to check out. Everything locked. So still have the key card !!. However, usually would not be a problem.
Parking was good, the Beer from Tap was good an WLAN was good
Climatic conditions poor, small windows that can be opened, nothing more. Railway line next door, on the last day no warm water from the shower or the tap. Furthermore, leaky sinks, loose toilet lids, loose soap dispensers and the passage doors slam extremely. The beds are uncomfortable, totally cheap and you can hardly sleep and the fridge is in the camping fridge at a minimum of 12 degrees.
We enjoyed our time in the hotel. The breakfast was very good the room was clean, and every room had their own entrance. Also the staff was really nice and helpful they explained everything and even after I forgot a ring and my hairdryer they now ship it to me.Additionally you are able the walk to the beach in about 15 minutes.
The location is very beatiful but the hotel is located next to train tracks. I had no problem to have a good sleep regardless but could be a issue for some. Also the next big city The hague is about 30 minutes with the car.
Easy to use. Clean. Reasonably priced. Close to Harbour and railway. Personnel friendly.
Shower lets water flow on the floor nearly without limits. Trains run very close.
Good room Excellent dinner. Helpful friendly staff
Breakfast in a separate hotel 400m away
Bad
When arriving it was not clear at all where the entrance was. I specifically asked the check in staff how cleaning the rooms works as I didn't want them cleaned as we were only staying 3 nights and don't want cleaners walking in when we were out. I put the do not disturb sign hanging on the door but it hangs there losely like half way between do not disturb and clean my room sign so is confusing for cleaners. On our first day out we came back at 11pm and found staff of the hotel sitting at a table drunk. We went to our room to find out key card didn't work. We went to reception which was locked. We stood outside the reception window where staff didn't realise we were standing there with a torch light trying to get their attention. We called the emergency number for the hotel which lead to the host of another hotel who rang the drunk staff. My partner went to get a new card from the staff member who said they were there drunk till 5am the other night. He said his colleague most of made a mistake as they put us as one night stay and checked out earlier even though we paid for 3 nights. We got to our room to find the cleaner had been there despite I specifically told the check in receptionist that that wasn't wanted or needed. There were only two tiny windows so minimum ventilation and the hand soap dispenser was broken. It is noisy next to the train track. The only clock in the room which was in the bathroom was incorrect. It is more than 20 minutes walk to the beach. The alarm handle kept beeping and going off at random. The beds were too single made into a double which is not ideal for a couple. So we did not bother checking out as I would of been complaining all of this to their face.
