Pros +
- I recently stayed at Oure Lodge Beach Resort and overall had a pleasant experience. The resort is set in a beautiful location with direct access to a lovely beach. The water is crystal clear—perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or even kayaking. It’s an ideal spot for those who enjoy spending time in and around the ocean. The room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, featuring a large bathtub that added a touch of relaxation to the stay. It was clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated.
- Located on a beautiful beach with amazing snorkeling right off the beach - it was gorgeous. The staff were friendly and helpful and the cabins were perfect for a tropical retreat
- Bungalows in front of the beach. The food delicious although veryyyyyyy limited menu. It was a good stayed overall but significantly expensive compared with other countries 4 start hotel.
Cons -
- The Wi-Fi was quite weak and inconsistent, which could be frustrating if you need to stay connected. Additionally, the breakfast options were limited and could use some variety to better cater to different preferences.
- The wifi
- Very limited menu. Everything around was closed and the tours cost a fortune. The pool beds were old and not well maintained. Also, not towels provided near the pool.

Amazing location with friendly staff. Delicious food and were happy to provide vegetarian meals for us when requested.
The staff was really nice and welcoming, the food in the restaurant is amazing and the location speaks for itself. We had the beach bungalow and heard the birds and waves in the morning. For the day they organized perfect excursion with a traditional sailboat and to the Oro Bay! We loved to stay here in paradise!
Location was AMAZING!
The rooms were a little dated, pillows were all a bit mouldy and needed replacing or a good bleach soak. The bathrooms needed a little work but they’re not bad. Again, it’s a humid environment so everything is wet alot, the rooms and curtains smelled a little damp. But otherwise totally fine. The food. The food was limited, if you’re coming, bring snacks. Or go to the convenience store in Vao. The breakfast was ok, we had snacks a couple of times but they stop serving at 5pm, and dinner is only at the restaurant from 7pm. The food was not great. Only a few options - nothing vegetarian/vegan.Would loved to have seen more simple local cuisine. Some simple skewers or fresh grilled fish etc. the mains need to take into account that sometimes less is more! The cocktails particularly when the male bartender was working were great!
this place is heaven. the beachfront cabin we had was so close to the beach. the bay is so quiet clam and serene. there is a coral reef a short walk from the lodge. we snorkelled with turtles! this place is so relaxing and wonderful. would recommend!!!
more variation in the food on offer would have been nice
The position, the general setup, the facilities.
They ran out of several wines we tried to order.
Great location with beautiful gardens. Close to snorkelling and amazing beaches.
Rooms average for the price, booked a boat trip and they didn't turn up....nobody told us it was cancelled. No real options for teens other than nuggets at dinner.
The location is amazing, with bungalows nestled just behind a stunning palm tree lined white sandy beach.... the tropical beach of your dreams! The staff are all friendly and very helpful. There are plenty of activities if you want to be active - snorkelling, kayaking, swimming, walks, boat tours - or just soak up the warmth and serenity of the beach.
The restaurants need more extensive menus. We were a bit disappointed with the food.
Amazing location and would definitely go back again. The food was also ?
The bathroom in our bungalow was a little bit outdated than our friends bungalow. Would be great to be more consistent.
The location was amazingStaff were hard working and attentive
The staff at reception had limited knowledge about certain things. We were overcharged on our bill but they had no knowledge of how to do refunds. We had to do a deal with the manager to take the money owed in food and drink instead. This seemed very odd behaviour. We wanted to hire scooters but no one was around to take our booking the staff had no idea where they were. The rooms needed some maintenance. Our aircon stopped during the night so it made it difficult to sleep. Parts of the outside aircon components were coming away from the wall.
Location and remoteness of resort
Wifi terribleHotel was very dated and old
Lovely beach with excellent access to it, great for kayaking and snorkelling, many tropical fish in this bay, better than Oro for snorkelling, the room was well laid out and comfortable
Lighting in the room was a bit low, the evening dinner was not well cooked, my piece of parsnip was cold, old roasted, stringy and dry...could have done with a small shop for food supplies on location
Location was excellent.
The property needed general maintenance for some things that were worn & torn from use i.e. communal toilets in restaurant area, the door would jam and the rubbish was old & rusty, the plug to the 2nd sink in my bangalow bathroom was not working properly and would not drain, the mini bar fridge was dirty on the outside, the buffet breakfast was average, the tea, coffee and milk was not topped up and I had to request for more. The sun lounges were old and manky, some I did not want to use. I feel for the amount of money I paid per night, these things should be kept on top of On arrival was not welcomed with a drink personally from the staff and had to help myself.
Oure Lodge is in a gorgeous location. It has lots of almost beach fales/cabins and the set up is very beautiful. It is right on Kanumera Bay which is the most gorgeous bay, with a gorgeous sunset. Staff were nice, although really recommend boning up on your french as it is difficult to get by without.
The Lodge is aging, so little things were a bit broken (bathroom window, door to the bathroom was stiff). The dinner at the restaurant was okay, but there were little options as everything was booked.
Superb snorkelling location steps from the accomodation (we saw turtles, a manta ray, pipe fish and moray eels), sand like white powder, wonderful food, excellent staff, kayaks for use, and just wish we could have stayed longer.

On arrival, we were greeted with smiles and soon after riding with our porter to our bungalow. The natural setting and facilities were great. Our dinner for the night was one of the best we had in New Caledonia, although we had to wait a while because it was a busy night. It was the evening of Christmas Day. Our only wish was to stay an extra night. We only stayed one night.
There was nothing we did not like.
Kanumera bay is beautiful with good snorkeling just in front and kayaks available for use. The bungalows are spacious with good undercover balconies. There is great take away pizza next door at Naitawatch and food and service at Kou-Bugny was great.
Clearly they were understaffed the first 4 days out of 5 we were there. The restaurant service was terrible and staff didn't maintain the breakfast dishes - often they were all out of eggs, orange juice and the fruit of the day. Service during our last lunch there was great and there was always someone at the reception. We weren't able to check-in until 2:30pm and then were told that we had to check out promptly at 10am. Many large (seemingly friendly) dogs roaming around the resort.
