Pros +
- Our first impression of the property was excellent with easy check-in, the location was perfect for us, the layout of the cabin was just what we wanted and the facilities suited us. One of the outstanding features was the cleanliness of the cabin. We have stayed in many and this cabin was far and away the cleanest property we have stayed in.
- I really enjoyed my stay at the Caves, even though it's a 25-30 minute drive back into the Rockhampton. It's divinely quiet though. especially at night. The cabin's kitchen was well provisioned in terms of cookware and crockery/cutlery, and the BBQ on the balcony was an unexpected bonus, although it was pretty dirty and could use a clean. But - if peace and tranquility are what you're looking for (plus some amazing caves to explore), then Capricorn Caves is highly recommended, as is the Caves Pub (just down the road - best steak I've had in a long time!).
- I liked it so much I deceided to stay here twice. Very clean and comfortable. So quiet that I had the best sleep.
Cons -
- Sleep. One of the most important things is being able to get a good night's sleep. The mattress in the lower bunk I was in was so hard it hardly flexed and extremely uncomfortable. I do not suffer from back problems but my back ached after using it. I approached reception with my concern and received a very short "there is nothing we can do for you", which given how good the rest of the property was surprised me and it was very clear to me I wasn't about to get any help. Most disappointing. I ended up curling up on one of the 2 seater lounges to sleep which didn't really work too well.
- I can't say I found the bed and pillows comfortable - the mattress was very hard, as were the pillows. I found myself waking up more tired than when I went to sleep.
- Absolutely no reception, which meant I couldn’t take work calls or communicate. Had to keep driving up the road to get connection, wifi would have been a great help

Large clean cabin. Well equipped. Lovely bbq area on the deck. Very private
The cabins were really spacious and well kept

A quiet location in a beautiful bush setting, next time we will ensure we have time for the cave tour.
It was lovely and quiet. We discovered our shower head wasn't working and somebody came out on Easter night to fix it. Being greeted by wallabies outside the bedroom window was lovely.
The mozzies ?
Spending time with my family
Wasn't much coffee, no wifi
It's just off the highway and easy to find. Staff were great. We ended up eating from the food they had in the reception which we were thankful for as the pub down the road was shut for Easter and we had planned on eating there when we arrived after a long drive. Otherwise we would of had to gone in to Rockhampton which would of been fine had we not been travelling all day and really didn't want to do any more once we got there.Definitely do the cave tours. We did the Explorer one. I and scared of hights and caustafobic and managed to do it all but one cave. If your brave the adventure one would be interesting but there would be no way I would of done that one.The cathedral cave in have heard from others to be really good and you would manage that if you had any concerns. Staff are very knowledgeable and its all privately owned so your business is very important, they are doing some great research there too.
The bunk bed would be the only thing I would complain about as it's mattresses weren't comfortable and were in plastic designed obviously for young children in case of bed wetting. Which is smart for young children but for an 17 year old she felt the mattress very hard and not thick enough. We ended up using both mattress on the lower bunk to make it more comfortable. The other bed in the same room was fine as it was an ensemble.I don't think if you were travelling with younger children you would have a problem but for older or even larger kids you would..But problem with mossies, definitely bring some spray as you will need it, outside but not in the caves. Don't let that stop you though.
Very quiet and well played out, each cabin was very private, clean and enjoyable.
The main bed was really comfortable as was the bedding. The aircon was good and quiet. The cooking utensils provided were good and I made breakfast both mornings. The whole cabin was neat and comfortable giving a private homely vibe and kept us dry while it was pouring down rain outside. We booked this relatively last minute as the national park we were meant to be camping at flooded. I'm so glad we stayed here though and will definitely be coming back. I also recommend the little pub down the road and doing a cave tour or two while you're there.
The wifi did keep kicking us off, I think this is a problem with the login system rather than the modem. There were a few cockroaches trying to keep dry from the rain that needed to be taken out lol
Had a fantastic stay at Capricorn Caves. The unit has everything you need, is a good size and nice air conditioning. The kitchen is fully equipped which we weren't expecting to use, however the pub on the corner didn't have a chef on Monday so we had to improvise. The WiFi and TV weren't working well. Definitely a place to connect with nature rather than the screen. Check in was super easy, communication was great, would recommend staying here to avoid The hustle and bustle of Rockhampton.
Location was excellent, very natural setting The cave tour was fantastic well worth seeing

Very secluded and private.
The wifi barely works and there’s no phone service at all. Extremely frustrating when trying to book an uber or taxi
Fabulous cabin, clean and spacious, lovely location with wildlife all around. The sky was amazing at night if you looked at the stars, so dark and beautiful. The caves were well worth visiting too.
Cabin was so spacious and quiet. Perfect little get away. The caves were great also
It was very clean. All amenities needed. Down sides. No wifi or cell service. Quiet. Great for family. Pool was so so. Nice fire pits. It took several times to call to get codes for door. Would stay again if touring the caves. It was a great experience.
No cell service or wifi. Poor communication.
It is a beautiful bush eco tourism spot. Our cabin was in great condos and exceptionally clean.
Pool and surrounds could be updated but were still very acceptable
The location was excellent, the cottages were comfy with a few resident lizards which was amusing. The wildlife was great. The bush turkeys were really entertaining. The cave tours are amazing!
The wifi was a bit shy of great, especially when night time hits.
Loved the lodge - super clean, really well resourced kitchen, very comfortable beds and a good bathroom. We loved the balcony outside, great for sundowners and listening to the sounds of the woodland around us. It felt very special and we loved our stay there. Pool was very nice and a welcome addition. Did a trip round the caves and really enjoyed the adventure.
