Midway Motel - Richmond

Location next to main road good almost halfway stop between Isa and Townsville

Geyser did not work, no hot water in room. Reported twice but staff could not care less.

Good location and best price of limited options. Availability of a restaurant at the attached Truck stop was also a huge advantage

staff could not explain one room at one cost 2nd room exactly the same at $28 more.

Not worth the money

No internet. No TV reception. Tap loose in bathroom

The staff member at the attached 24hour road train/semi trailer service station was friendly and tried to be helpful. The one positive during a VERY long night.Good space for single drivers or workers when they cant get home.

Description of accommodation and placement with regards where it was was not correct. 'Lake view? Once the road trains moved maybe a sliver of blue in the distance, No private key pickup as stated on B.com. Line up at the cash register in the petrol station. TV broken, didn't work at all. Fire Alarm we assume not working (see attached amusing photo) Beds VERY uncomfortable. Pillow cases clean? but discoloured as though unwashed. No bench space (one small desk and chair and yet it was supposed to be a room to hold 3 people.. Thankfully only 2 of us.) Floor appeared clean until you showered and then walked on it bare foot.. Hint: shower, dry feet and put shoes on before stepping off towel. Washing machine dirty so bypassed doing a catch up travel wash. Meals were reasonable but it was all Service station meals. Room definitely not quiet. Half the night it sounded as though the semi trailers were heading straight for our room as they took off after filling at the petrol bowsers (not their fault) No where on Booking.com does it mention the accommodation is basic rooms attached to a Roadhouse. The nightly tariff was crazy compared to every other place we have stayed in 3 weeks. eg. next night 2 room KS bed loungeroom and new bathroom and onsite restaurant laundry and BBQ for the same price as Richmond.The Owners of the Roadhouse need to totally have their booking.com entry re-written

That ongoing issues with TV reception and no internet connection is ridiculous to use recent weather events as the reason when previous comments say it been happening for a long time.

24 hour Shop and check in. Locatiob

Light switch in room not working, coffee and cups provided but no teaspoons, someone else clothes still in the cupboatd. This place is going backwards

There is a little coffee shop at the end of the street in a house with a shop front, go and get a coffee you won’t be disappointed!!

Location

The rooms were filthy, hairs in bed and in showers dead bugs all over the ground

The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked really well which was great because daytime temperatures were above 40 degrees. Shower had good water pressure.

The first room i was given was filthy, there were dead bugs everywhere, on the floor, under the beds, in the bathroom and on the desk. I asked for a different room and it also had dead bugs on the floor, under the beds and in the bathroom. Given that there was no other accommodation available in Richmond i asked for a broom so the Roadhouse Manager (also motel reception) came and swept the bugs out. More bugs came in that night but putting a rolled up towel under the door stemmed the flow somewhat.

Easy access, room was clean, very large TV. No road noise.

Aircon could have been running prior to check in.

Pleasant

Literally one towel, nil face cloths or even a hand towel. Very thin singular pillow (it was lucky we brought our own) and the check in was very unclear, you need to go into the petrol station and Literally line up with those paying for their petrol and food to ask for keys, yet no signage letting you know the petrol station is part of the motel (completely separate buildings and names)

First we seemed to be over charged for the rpom as we were told if we rang direct it was $34 a night cheaper. Room flooring was all damaged. The smoke detecter was broken and sitting on top of the cupboard we were in room 17 the place had water leaking out through air-conditioning down windows and wall the back door couldn't lock so had to relie on screen door to lock.there was dog droppings out the back every were so you couldn't go out the back of room due to the stink .not sure booking .com you are charging so much more but if so you need to check these places out first before charging people extra and promoting these places for cleanliness and safety

The room is sort of modern

The room was nice and modern. Although it was at a 24 servo, the room was exceptionally quiet, no outside noise whatsoever. Just beautiful

Huge tv that didn't work on our stay

Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, quiet location, great air conditioning.

The Bed, extra pillows would have been exceptional. ??

We have stayed there quite a few times.And this time round it has been the second time that our Bar fridge has been FULL of ice...AND the bottom seal of the fridge was hanging off.Also after calling staff to ask for a WiFi password we were still unable to get wifi connection

Location and pets

Out the front the concrete is breaking up and as it was raining there was mud (off work vehicles parked prior) which was very slippery and dangerous

I liked the bed. It was the most comfortable I have slept in in a long time.

The shower had some problems leaking around the nozzle and spraying all over the bathroom floor out into the unit space

Location was reasonably central. Secure parking (gates locked at night). Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was good. Bed was very good. Fridge, tea making facilities. Dinner available but not breakfast.

great spot food is great beer is cold lol nice modern rooms and that tv huge
