Pros +
- Bath tub and good mattress
- Fabulous pub with accomodation and helpful staff. Very good food in the restaurant
- Our second stay at the Exchange Hotel. This hotel is along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and is perfect if you are hiking or biking. The rooms are very spacious and bed comfortable. Room includes toast/ cereal breakfast the next morning. If you ask for rooms 1 to 4, they come with your own private space on the top floor front balcony. It is worth booking one of these rooms for the relaxing space in the evening or watching the sunrise in the morning. Meals at the pub downstairs are good sized. the beer garden out the back is very atmospheric and relaxing. Rooms do not have ensuites, but shared bathrooms, which we had no issue with and no waiting time to use them. As mentioned, this was our second stay here as we enjoy hiking the BVRT. We would stay here again.
Cons -
- All good ?
- We had room 4 again (second stay here and got the same room). Unfortunately, the guests in room 5 dont have a private balcony section, and decided they would venture onto our balcony early the in the morning. Perhaps it should be explained upon check in to guests in room 5 that they dont have use of the balcony? Also, there wasn't any cereal left in the guests kitchen and it wasnt clear what we could use out of the fridge.
- Nothing to not like.

Toogoolawah Exchange Hotel is a gorgeous little establishment with so much character going for it. The bed was super comfortable with the softest sheets ever. I just fell into them and felt instantly snuggly...which is not something I can say I feel with most other accommodation bedding. And the pillows were great too. Not too thin. Not hard or lumpy. Perfection!A lot of thought has gone into the decor and all the little final touches for guests.Super convenient affordable and hearty meals from the Groovy Goat downstairs - with super attentive and competent staff to keep things running smoothly. Loved that breakfast was also included which made for one less thing to have to manage.. Our room was more than adequate and definitely comfortable. I loved the ambience, the country hospitality and character. Just the history that oozed from the rooms which made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I didn't really want to leave to be honest. I really really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.Great job Toogoolawah Exchange Hotel Management and Staff!!!
Nothing to not like.
Location , room size & comfy bed.
The broken down verandah with old beer cans with cigarette butts in it, off our bedroom. Felt like I could fall through the floor boards on the verandah.
There was so much room and the kitchenette was welcomed. We had the room with an ensuite. It was a great stop whilst walking the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meal at dinner was excellent. Highly recommend.
Wonderful quaint colonial Australian pub with terrific staff. Big room, quiet location, well appointed and great food at pub. Safe bike parking.
Very spacious and clean. Good shared bathroom. Great value for money.
Very noisy, not soundproof between bedrooms. We could follow every word of the TV next door in the evening, and were woken by the neighbours waking up at 4am.
Location
Room needs a very good clean. Carpet is filthy, fans have a thick layer of dust.
It was a nice old fashioned pub. Very comfortable bed, the ensuite room was large with a separate lounging area, table and chairs, and a separate toilet. The aircon and fan really cooled the room quickly and made for a comfortable sleep. Downstairs is a bistro with great food for a reasonable price. It’s close to the rail trail. What’s not to like?
Nothing. The building is over 100 years old and in original condition with modern conveniences like aircon. It is very inexpensive to compensate gift that.
It was a large room with separate toilet and bathroom [bath/shower]. Location was in Toogoolawah main street easy walking distance to everything. I also liked the common kitchen with access to complementary cereal, bread toaster, butter, Vegemite, jam (satchets). I had dinner on the night downstairs & they have a good pub menu. Park at the rear with access after hours although it isn't paved so drive slowly. I also liked the hot water which although a bit slow, was hot & constant in temperature (I love a good shower) Air conditioning and ceiling fans kept me very comfortable during my stay when it hot & humid outside. [Condensation on the outside of the window attests to this].
Light in bedroom not working -> not really an issue because the adjoining lounge/TV 'room' is part of the open plan bedroom. Parking at rear isn't paved with a few shallow pot holes. The entry key operation to room 6 was a little awkward due to proximity to door frame but I'm really nit picking with this.
Rooms were quite roomy and comfortable, my wife says "charming and cosy". We did have the double room (no balcony) with the bathroom which was old but very functional. The communal kitchen was unexpected but had all the basics for breakfast and cooking.
Nothing really
Great staff, food and location
The Queen Size Bed was SO comfortable.
Noises from adjoining Room!.From 4.15am.
Right next to the BVRT, excellent bed and quiet air con. Room was overall fantastic.
Food wise it wasn't great. the medium rare steak was well done and they had squirted mayonnaise all over the vegetarian pizza.
The shared kitchen area. The ambience of high-ceiling period architecture ... coming from a worker's cottage in the city I felt very comfortable with the style. I liked the utilitarian nature without being overly posh ... it's a hotel in the country ... this is exactly what I desired. The bed was comfy and the aircon worked well. An oil heater was also supplied for cold winter nights. There was the usual TV microwave, cups, teabags, etc., although we always travel with a small bag of kitchen supplies. The ensuite was welcomed although not standard for the hotel. I look forward to staying there again
The first night, the water for the shower was a tad coldish. In the morning, it was hotter and adequate for two showers. This was not a big problem, but maybe it could be looked at. It is certainly not the worst I have encountered in my travels.
Simple clean and convenient for us. Shared bath was just fine for us. Had a great meal in the hotel restaurant.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Went out of their way to accommodate us as we got in to late to have a feed and happily cooked us a fantastic pizza
Location very handy
The door locks. and Required to leave through the rear entrance
Excellent value for money. Fantastic bistro with awesome service. The room was very clean with one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Great country pub vibe.
Shower had terrible water pressure. Made it difficult to have a decent shower. Using a water restrictor in shower heads doesn't save water. It just makes you have a longer shower.
