    Pros +

    • Most of the staff where very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The lodge was very well situated with well-spaced out units.
    • Excellent experience staying at Mungo Lodge. The staff were incredible - so friendly and helpful! Food was delicious and the rooms and amenitites are great. My partner and I went in the first week of December 2025 and were practically the only guests there, which meant we got to experience the remote location in a very special way. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone who is interested in exploring Mungo National Park. Special thanks to Anju for the wonderful conversations.
    • The hosts and staff were exceptional - very welcoming, informative, attentive and extremely hard working. The cabin was very clean with a big, comfortable bed, good shower and lovely sunset views from the back deck. All the meals served at Mungo Lodge were delicious and presented beautifully. The barista coffee and continental breakfast were a great way to start each day.The wandering animals were a pleasant bonus and the location couldn't be better to explore the Mungo National Park. The Sunset Tour booked through the Lodge is a must do.Mungo Lodge is a fantastic place to stay, but it's the wonderful staff who make it extra special. We treasured this holiday and would love to come back.

    Cons -

    • Minor things in the room suggested it was done a little cheaply - the door to the bathroom creaked and swung in, the tap fell off in the shower and some cracks appearing the the walls although the place looked new.
    • For a place trying to price itself as a more upmarket lodge, there were significant gaps eg very limited selections for breakfast, no leaf tea, the coffee was a pod machine with very limited range of pods (eg no decaf coffee available). As a coeliac there were very limited meal options.
    • The aircon's heating function was very weak. The kitchen facilities were insufficient. For example, no oven gloves were provided. The electricity was not stable. We experienced several power outages during our 3 nights stay.

    Spacious room. In park location.

Everything was excellent: the restaurant was superb; beds comfy; staff friendly and obliging; guided tour relaxed and informative; and facilities great.

There was nothing that I didn't like.

I loved the chilled vibe, the animals walking around, the birds especially and the toilet facilities and camp kitchen were very good. The fridge/freezer in the camp kitchen is a game changer. It's small, so if you plan to stay for multiple days, bring your own eski. You'll be able to fit a few things in there but others also use it so space is limited. You can freeze bottles of water in the freezer and keep supplying your eski. The other great thing about this place is that there is filtered drinking water in the camp kitchen just out of the normal tap. The water actually tastes very nice. The complimentary breakfast is very good..some people have complained about it, but they're just soft. It's very good for a free breakfast. It's self service for instant coffee, tea, juice, cereal, milk, yogurt and museli. No complaints here. Staff very friendly also.

The only thing I didn't like is that a couple of toilets and showers are out of order but it didn't really matter. Also the hinge on the door to my accommodation was broken but these are minor issues. Also, be careful if you are a bigger bloke, I was sitting on a plastic chair outside the camp kitchen, that was rated at 100kg, and the entire thing collapsed under me hahaha. I was not injured so it didn't really matter!

Mungo National Park is awesome and the lodge is in a good location, not too far from the main sites. The king deluxe rooms are very large with a lovely view from the back deck and cute, friendly goats walking around. Didn’t hear anything from the room next door so either they’re well soundproofed or we were just so tired at night! Handy having the restaurant on site.

Don’t expect luxury, there’s nothing “deluxe” about these cabins and they feel a bit tired. The shower is more of a misting system most likely to save water which I completely understand, it did the job but I didn’t attempt to wash my hair in it!The fridge didn’t get particularly cold even though it was on the coldest setting and the freezer certainly didn’t freeze. Maybe a power issue? There was a pump outside that made a very annoying noise so wasn’t great to sit out on the deck and enjoy the quiet! The restaurant isn’t great, the staff were doing their best and were all very nice, but they were run off their feet so it was a bit slow and the food came out lukewarm at best. Very expensive food (again, I completely understand as they’re so remote) but I would keep expectations low and then you might be pleasantly surprised.

The property is in a good location.

We stayed in the family bunk room. I would not recommend. The room (number 3) is positioned between the men’s toilet and the kitchen and shares a wall with each. You can hear everything from the kitchen which is not much fun at 9 in the evening when your kids have finally got to sleep and you hear loud chopping followed by more and more people’s voices as they prepare a family meal. You can also hear people banging the toilets al evening. We also had the pleasure of people accidentally opening our room door thinking it was the toilet or kitchen. This made us realise that the lock on the door was broken. We got next to no sleep. Would not recommend. Spoke to nice receptionist about the issues the next morning and explained that we no longer wanted to stay a second night and wanted a refund due to broken door etc. wanted to get it sorted out. Did not want to leave this review. She was great and spoke to manager who agreed to refund but said I would need to phone to organise it as it would be complicated. Two weeks later and many phone calls and still nothing.

Mungo Lodge was an ideal location to access the many local attractions ie Mungo National Park, Mungo Woolshed, historical homesteads, gorgeous sunsets, amazing turrets and Reded Top lookout. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and the staff extremely accommodating. The Lodge restaurant was a welcomed comfort in the outback. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

Everything was ready when we arrived. The accommodation was sparkingly clean . The staff was very helpful

Was quite expensive but understand given its location.

    7JacquiPosted on: 4-19-2025

Mungo National Park is interesting. The Walls of China are amazing. The Lodge was conveniently located. Staff were friendly and helpful.

It’s outback so really the only things that we thought could have been better are possibly difficult due to its location eg TV channel availability.

    Location and convenience

Upkeep of facilities. ie: gas BBQ was very dirty and covered with cobwebs. Chairs on the varenda were a bit wobbly, felt unsafe. Dining area smelled strongly of the cooking oil from the kitchen.Noting catastrophic, but not so difficult to eliminate for a well run organisation.

    10KavitaPosted on: 4-15-2025

Nice place with good facilities and food. Dinner was excellent, but the continental breakfast which was included with stay was just variety of bread and spreads, cereal packets , juice , tea/coffee and canned fruit. It was still nice!

    Location

The tent had a broken zipper on internal fly screen and so unable to leave outside fly open. In addition all insect screens excep 1 were torn so fresh air was limited. Shared bathroom and toilet facilities were very basic. Far from glamping.

    8JeanPosted on: 4-13-2025

Mungo is a fantastic location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was tasty, a little expensive but to be expected given the distance from major centres. Rooms were comfortable.

We were not given the room we booked, a twin instead of a double, and staff said they were unable to change - despite there being vacancies. The shower was poorly designed - the shower rose could not be adjusted and consequently water flowed everywhere.

    8MargaretPosted on: 4-12-2025

Breakfast was good - dinners were excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Venue was well maintained and the administration Lodge was "classy". Glamping tent was comfortable. Sunset tour to the Wall of China was great.

Since the glamping tent accommodation was the only available for the 3 nights I was looking for, I was more than happy to take it - but - I didn't realise that it would take me a relatively long walk in the dark to get to the bathroom block for a toilet visit in the night - trying not to stumble over uneven ground in the process. And I'm glad I thought to bring a torch, because there was no track-way lighting to guide me from tent to shower room. Thank goodness it was also coming up to a full moon to help light the way.

The location is isolated yet wonderful and what I would want to explore the area. The location allows easy access to the Mungo features. The staff were fabulous and the meals and bar area great. The rooms are spacious.

Our room in the lodge area is in need of some TLC. The access to the main area has accessible ramps but the paths to them are not easily accessible for walkers or wheelchairs.
