    Cons -

    • felxibality of the staff and the site. having our own shower toilet and kitchen was handy for a family, I also like the celling fans in hot weather it can be very pleasent, nice mornning sun .
    • The cabin we stayed in wasn’t insulated well which made it lose heat easily. There is a heater in the room which works well but it would have to be left on during cold nights. If this was the summer I imagine this being fine!
    • The unit could do with a deep clean. The kitchen floor was sticky to walk on and the sheets were not very white. The shower didn't have consistent pressure and the temperature changed.

Beautiful little town with great beach bays. Loved the sunset beach.

We liked that there was a full size fridge and a good size kitchen area. The bed was comfortable.

The unit could do with a deep clean. The kitchen floor was sticky to walk on and the sheets were not very white. The shower didn't have consistent pressure and the temperature changed.

The persons at the reception are verry friendly and helpfull. They do as much as they can to make you feel comfortabel and part of the community. I felt very welcome and at home. The sunset beach is very close to the accommodation and the sunsets are beautifull.

The cabin was spacious and had everything we needed for our short stay. It was peaceful and comfortable.

Unfortunately the bed was a bit hard. The Sky Tv stopped working within the first day, however we were too busy to speak to anyone about this. The only other thing was the water drainage system was quite loud, more specifically when other cabins used the facilities, our system would sound. It was odd. But nothing we couldn’t live with for a few days.

    location and quiet

    no hot shower after 8pm

Very clean tidy and friendly staff

The playground. The kids enjoyed it.

The noise from the other group (drinking and singing) only stops at 6am, the staff mentioned it in the morning and ensure it won't happen again. It's a bit inconvenient that time.

    Good

Port Waikato lies in an area where nothing happens. Be sure to buy everything you need before you arrive because the nearest place to eat and supply is 30 km away.

location was great bed comfy staff friendly

no sharp knives for cutting vegetables or steak no lids for the pans

It had everything you’d need for a short stay. Communication was good informing me to buy fuel and food in advance as nothing in Port Waikato.

Outside table and chairs were terrible. Chairs so filthy I couldn’t use them and I had to ask to swap one. I was allowed but had to do it myself and it was heavy! Table badly rusted and could have caused a nasty injury. Deluxe cabin was pretty basic, dark and small. Dead flies in bathroom. Kitchen bin not empty- but the receptionist sorted it immediately.

it was shame that we can no longer bring our dogs to the cabins. We never took them in the cabins so its diappointing that some people impact on others who are respectful of the place. The main reason we come for a weekend get away to the lovely cabins is because we could bring our dogs

Basic cabin but with a fridge, very hot during day but pleasant at night. Very clean bathrooms and kitchen. Close to beaches and dunes

A fan in the cabin would have been awesome but we know now for next time.

    8BarbaraPosted on: 2-4-2025

The place was exceptionally clean. Staff were always cleaning and pleasant. The facilities have had much use and were a bit tired. It's an economical place. One night younger people made noise late into the night.

There was no AC. The bathroom showers really nead a vent system as when people showered it was really humid.

    10ConnorPosted on: 2-1-2025

1km from a beautiful beach, clean and cheap.

No AC, but it cooled off at night and wasn’t an issue. No blankets but also not a big deal.
