Nightcap at Gateway Hotel

Everything was clean & comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated but it was still clean & functional

The only thing I found not very user friendly was the entry into the reception

Everything from meals drinks and accommodation was spot on thinking about returning on our way back

Value for money, friendly staff! Close to spirit of Tasmania port.

The room was exceptionally well kept, for the night rate. If anything the bed needed an upgrade and the area was a little noisy.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was great pressure.

It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked; dusty, spiders and spiderwebs, limescale in the shower. Took forever to be served and decided to try the buffet where the food was awful and gave my husband a bad stomach, we were also told that the buffet closes at 8:30 when we sat at 8 but food was being taken away before then, most of the food being inedible, as well as not one staff member approached us to take plates or offer drinks, we were very rushed and stared at. Not worth the $100 for two to eat or the $180 we payed for the room.

The rooms had obviously been recently renovated, were comfortable and well-appointed.

I think they could utilise the back section of the rooms better, there was a back door that led out to a covered space, which was a nice spot to sit in the morning, but there were a lot of leaves that could have been blown away to make it more inviting.

The bathroom was very modern and the room was spacious. Beds were very comfortable.

For the price, I would've liked a microwave and crockery/cutlery in the room. Other accommodation that I booked either side of my stay at the Gateway, had these items and were cheaper in price.

Everything was great! Unfortunately the Wifi reception was poor. Maybe because the room was far from reception and bar.

Neat and. Clean place. The rooms were at the back and a bit lonely. The first night we were a bit uncomfortable if it was safe but realised that it was fine. The room was clean and bathroom was modern with all amenities. It is right on princess highway, so was great ti get in and get out.

Comfortable, great location to Spirit of Tasmania. Friendly, helpful staff.

Location suited us. Convenience of having a hotel and bistro was helpful. The room was very clean inside, and comfortable. Flexible check in was helpful.

Outside of the room, including the door and car park, was dirty. Lots of cigarette butts scattered about.

Room was nice and clean in arrival have stayed many times before both pre and post renovations and will likely continue staying

The king mattress was very well used and springs could be felt. Down the centre of the the bed where no one sleeps made the rest of the mattress feel weird and uncomfortable. Didn’t sleep a wink both nights I was there which made my stay a little worse this time around

My sister and l arrived and the staff where good. When we went in to the room there where no coffee cups. I went up and saw them and they where very nice and came down and told my siter that they were being washed. At that time she said there was a wet face washer in the shower. They removed the face washer but didn't replace it or the bath mat. Apart from that everything else was good

towels, bath mat, face washers and an extra towel and the cups would have been nice on arrival. As we didn't check in till 2pm

I had to wipe down the the bedside tables & table-there were visible red wine glass rings from the previous guests.The reception was unattended on arrival-ignored by the bar staff. I was unsure if I was in the correct area to Check in.

Clean rooms, tasteful decor, quiet.

This hotel was great. The room was large. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were lovely. They also have all you can eat buffet.

I like a lockable bathroom door.

Reception in a REALLY ROUGH part of hotel. Hotel stayed open until 4am. As I went in I thought - we don’t stay in places like this. In industrial area. VERY overpriced. No tissues, no shower cap, no hand cream.

We booked based on the location and images on the website. In reality it was smack bang in the middle of a commercial area. Not that pretty. Having said that, we only really needed somewhere to stay while we attended some business. The room was adequate, but, us being slightly older, we generally stay in slightly more up market accommodation. We used the buffet next door. It was great family food and we enjoyed what we had. Staff at reception were great.

Would we stay there again? Probably not. It could be quite a nice place to stay but needs a lot of work... sorry.

Staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent with large portions for a good price.

Beds were a little hard. A toaster or microwave would have been good to have.

Loved the close proximity to Spirit of Tasmania dock. Meal at the Bistro was so good. Loved the Shower and comfortable beds.
