Located on the beachfront in Playa del Carmen, this resort offers 5 outdoor pools, entertainment team, yoga classes and massages. Mahekal Beach Resort offers spacious, air-conditioned rooms with Mayan-style décor. The peaceful rooms do not include radios or TVs but do offer telephone services and WiFi. All rooms offer a private safe box, private bathroom with a hairdryer and have a terrace with hammocks and views of the sea or tropical gardens. A daily breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner are available in the Olas Restaurant. Fuego Restaurant serves four-course set dinners, and offers regular theme nights and live music. The resort is located in a very popular area of Playa del Carmen, just a few minutes' walk from lively 5th Avenue. The on-site concierge can arrange visits to the Mayan ruins of Tulum National Park, a 45-minute drive away.

- This hotel is right on the beach and was very laid back and relaxing. We loved walking around and that it was dog friendly!

- A few people on the staff, including the waiters and bartenders, spoke English but most only speak Spanish. It was difficult to communicate a lot of the time.
- In last decade this was my fifth visit there. This hotel is becoming more and more commercialized, Starbucks inside, weddings each weekend, screaming kids, overcrowded pools. Is was much more fun when this hotel was less known.
- Our hot water wasn't working we had to ask twice for someone to come look at it and they said it was fixed and it never got more than Luke warm. Even in 75 degree weather it was challenging to get in the shower. The rooms and property were very run down.

Location.

The location is great

Access to the beach. Staff is nice.
Roof water leaks in the room 2 nights in the middle of the night. Water on the bed kids did not sleep. We reported it after the first night but it was not repaired 2 Rooms not in same building and not even in buildings next to each otherwise
