All rooms at this elegant 4-star hotel feature a mini-bar, a satellite TV and a private bathroom. Some rooms have a balcony. The restaurant’s cuisine serves traditional and regional cuisine, including lamb, Angus beef and sucking calf. Fresh fish and traditional pastries are also served. The restaurant regularly hosts specialty weeks and has a well-assorted wine cellar. The spa area of the Hotel Hotel Zum Schwarzen Bären includes a large indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, a new ice cabin and 2 saunas, infrared cabin as well as professional massages. Activities like guided bicycle tours, Nordic walking, traditional Heurigen evenings with wine and schnapps tastings, day trips to Vienna and bicycle rental are available.

    Pros +

    • The place was quite unique and the staff was very friendly.
    • Beautiful hotel over 400 years old, in a quiet little village on the Danube :)
    • Very nice place. The quality of the spa was unexpectedly fabulous, and appreciated after cycling for several days. Comfortable room and beds. Our dinner was very good, eating outside on their patio. Good breakfast and well set up for cyclists.

    Cons -

    • The room was not air conditioned and was a little hot a night. It made it difficult to sleep.
    • As long as you understand the location and the lack of air conditioning it is otherwise a very good hotel.
    • The room was burning hot, dark and there was a carpet floor which didn’t seem too clean. Plus the room was rather expensive for the value. Rather old fashioned in a way.

Emmersdorf is very nice but approximately 15 kilometers upstream of the heart of the wine country. The hotel and spa are very nice. But in extremely warm conditions be aware that there is no air conditioning.

As long as you understand the location and the lack of air conditioning it is otherwise a very good hotel.

The place was well located and the breakfast amazing. Staff was pretty nice too. The room was big.

The room was burning hot, dark and there was a carpet floor which didn’t seem too clean. Plus the room was rather expensive for the value. Rather old fashioned in a way.

    Easy E bike renting

The first receptionist was really bad and un friendly. The private information filling system.Dirty bathroom and hole on bed cover.

Such a cute little village, and the hotel is clean and airy. Our room was more like an apartment with a large sitting area and large balcony! The spa was fantastic. I wish we could have stayed longer. Also fancy coffee machine with free coffee.

Well, it was extremely hot, and we were very confused about why they kept propping the door to the outside kopem. I guess they thought it was fresh air, but it was hot air like a furnace they were letting into the nice cool hotel! Maybe they aren't used to hot weather?!

We had an upgrade of the room which we appreciated. Staff in the restaurant was very help full in accommodating our puppy dog enabling us to enjoy a full dinner instead of eating in the room. Dinner was excellent. We come again.

The hotel and staff are lovely. The restaurant was above average, really enjoyed our meals there. Pool area a little dated but clean and refreshing.

Really great hotel in a cute little village. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The pool was clean and in a very pretty room. I would definitely stay here again.

    Nothing!

The pool was good choice for these hot days. Breakfast was very good. Very clean bathroom.

Warm room on summer, because there is no climatization. Dark room, not enough lightning.

    9PetrPosted on: 8-6-2023

Friendly and very helpful staff, very good breakfast, meals and local wines in the restaurant. EV charger available!

    10TomasPosted on: 8-5-2023

The hotel has a great atmosphere which we really liked. The room was large and comfortable. There were lots of maps, leaflets and local information, including the amazing Morgenpost. That was fun :)The breakfast was excellent, with a variety of choices. We very much enjoyed the evenings on the upper terrace where we sipped local wine with friends. There is also a nice pool and wellness area.

Great breakfast! Staff went the extra mile for us. Spacious room.

    Nice location, good restaurant, clean

The room was really hot when we arrived. The air conditioner worked and we turned it on, but knowing that guests are coming in a room directly under the roof on a hot summer day, I would have expected the staff to cool it a bit down. All the details felt like a good 3 star place, not 4 star

    6StellaPosted on: 5-18-2023

    SPA area

very limited breakfast options that were always the same. no water boiler in room. have to pay extra for bathrobes. Pillows felt as if they were empty.

Spa was great, location was quiet

Nothing to see in the town itself, but beautiful surroundings

    9MariaPosted on: 4-17-2023

We stayed in room 204 which is on the same floor as the wellness. The room was very spacious, had a bath, a sitting area and a balcony. We loved the saunas, the pool and the jacuzzi. The breakfast was lovely, we ordered some eggs, you can juice fresh carrots and apples. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant. The day of our check out we were able to use the wellness after checking out. We had it all to ourselves.
