About

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Currituck Sound, this oceanfront retreat offers a variety of accommodations, each featuring private balconies or patios with ocean, sound, or resort views. Thoughtfully designed interiors create a serene, stylish ambiance, perfect for a relaxing escape. Guests can indulge in a diverse culinary experience, including the highly anticipated Theodosia, an all-new dining concept by renowned chef Vivian Howard, set to debut in late Spring 2025. The resort also features the renewed Beach House Bar, ideal for morning coffee, craft cocktails, and sunset views by the firepit. The Sanderling is located just 3.9 mi from Duck, NC, and 11 mi from the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, with easy access to the Wright Brothers National Memorial and other top Outer Banks attractions.

Pros +

  • Location to beach
  • Location & amenities
  • The fact that it was close to where I needed to be.

Cons -

  • Rooms were outdated, carpets need to be replaced.
  • It was worn & needed to be refreshed. The bugs were intense! They needed a system to rid the property of the extraordinary amount of bugs! Outdoor bartender was crabby, as noted by other guests aa well.
  • Rooms were just ok. The entire hotel was under renovation so the spa, indoor pool, hot tub were closed. It felt as if the entire hotel should have been closed during this period of renovations...not worth the price tag during the winter season.

Staff was kind of snobbish and the room wasn't nice at all. I had a parking lot view of 2 pods for storage. The pillow cases were smaller than the pillows and my girlfriend got scratched in the eye with zipper on pillow. And the water bottle provided in t
