A 5-minute walk from Berliner Tor Train Station and just 1 stop from Hamburg Central Station, this hostel has a 24-hour reception. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Bright, nonsmoking rooms with private bathrooms are offered at the a&o Hamburg City. Rooms are equipped with modern furnishings. Breakfast can be booked at the Hamburg City. There are also vending machines for snacks and drinks, and packed lunches can be prepared on request. In the evenings, guests can relax in the bar. There are also billiards and table football in the lobby. Younger guests will enjoy the children’s play area. Guests can enjoy satellite TV broadcasting various sports channels in the lobby and bar. Sightseeing tours can be booked at reception. Underground and S-Bahn trains run directly to Hamburg Central Station, Hamburg Harbor and the lively Reeperbahn.

- I had low expectations, but it was just nice, exceeding my low expectations.
- Hotel easy to reach by train from the city centre. Room was really spacious and a lot better than we'd expected from a hostel! It was also generally clean and good shower.
Cons -
- Somebody smoking inside the building
- The bed was unnecessarily narrow. The room was small (as expected), but it could have easily accommodated a slightly wider bed.
- Very noisy, both from the traffic on the main road, and the guests in the corridors at night. This is sort of to be expected in a hostel I suppose. Also, although the room was generally clean, the floors were quite dusty and I couldn't walk with bare feet
