Sea Raven Motel

Great location close to shops and restaurants and across the street from the waterfront. The staff are all super friendly. I appreciated the unlimited supply of coffee! I chose the budget room and at first was a little sad as I didn't have a front facing window or outside seating, however quickly realized that it made it a quieter room and didn't regret my choice.

The parking is quite small and not easy to negotiate in a larger car - there was also street parking so this was fine in the end. The price is steep for what it is but I suppose Haida Gwaii is a hot spot these days so it's to be expected.

Although I am not looking for anything fancy, the room smells strongly of mold.

The place definitely needs maintenance or, better, refurbishment. The room was perfectly clean but the kitchenette was close to awful. Everything is fairly expensive on Haida Gwaii, but CA$ 200 / night was rather on the expensive side

Frank was he best. He helped me with my luggage and made sure I was settled when I arrived. Having a small fridge in the room was a bonus!

Very kind owner. Perfect location. Close to ferry and some really great restaurants.

The staff were very helpful and the location was good with a short walk to places to eat and easy access to the ferry. The room was warm and the beds were comfortable.

The shower head needed repair/replacement. I would have liked to be able to make a cup of tea not just coffee. The owner did provide a kettle when asked but I had to use my own tea bags.

Older but very clean. The staff went beyond expectations to help us in any way they could. Excellent restaurant and tv and books to read.

The people next to us were rude but nothing the owner could do about it so didn’t mention it.

Room window opens onto breezeway with obstructed daylight. Very tired facilities, dark, missing lightbulbs

Location was good, restaurant breakfast was good and the bed was comfy.

Noise level of other guests, could hear people talking, snoring, tv blaring at night. Also accused of stealing a remote which I did not receive in the first place. Room was extremely dated.

The location was perfect; a short drive from the ferry and a couple of minutes walk to the Tourism Info Centre - which was located near the water with a nice green-area and a paved walking trail around the nearby school field. There were also both a large and a small grocery store in the same area, as well as a couple of restaurants - and others within a short drive. The motel has its own restaurant which we used for breakfast and several other meals because it was convenient. Considering this is a motel, it was quiet in the evenings. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating!!

Although the restaurant menu was good, we wish it would have included some local type dishes (none of the restaurants appeared to offer local dishes ...). Although the room had a good-size kitchen, a larger counter would have had better space for the cook-top (placed below when not in use), and a larger table would be preferred since the microwave took up half of it. The parking was a bit tight - along the front of the motel, but more parking was possible off the side street to the Info Centre.

The Sea Raven is great value on Haida Gwaii. It's an older property but it's very comfortable and very clean!

This is a family owned business and they are working hard to make everyone comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have ripped out all the old carpets from the 1970’s, and replaced it with laminate. The room smelled fresh and clean.

My room didn’t have a view and was a little small, but this wouldn’t stop me from staying there again. I like how they have planted flowers and shrubs to make the place look good!
