Convenient locations and felt safe

No hairdryer in bathroom and poor lighting at the bathroom sink. Couldn’t see to get ready in the am

Staff was friendly and helpful. I was originally given a first-floor room. When I asked if I could be moved to an upper floor (so that my windows did not look directly onto parking lot), the person at the desk immediately changed me to a third-floor room. Room was plenty big and very clean; I appreciated the kitchenette with glasses and mugs (among other kitchen equipment), and the table for eating and the couch. The hotel in general seemed very quiet. Except for faint noise of a tv, it was silent on my floor. Loved the location downtown on the canal path. The breakfast was well-prepared and good quality. Eggs were fluffy, oatmeal wasn't overcooked or glutinous. I appreciated having yogurt and fruit, and the option of Udi's gluten-free muffins.

The decor is a bit dated, although I don't really care about that. The toilet ran, so I had to jiggle the handle after using it, not a big deal.

Air conditioner loud in our room, it quieted down eventually but it was loud enough to disturb sleep when it first turned on.

For my purposes, the location was excellent: I had no car, and almost everything I needed was within comfortable walking distance. The room was utterly generic, but comfortable enough, and almost everything worked properly.

At the end of a VERY long work day, I inquired about late check out for the next day, and the pleasant person behind the desk said it would not be a problem. I trusted a note of this would have been made...that trust was sorely misplaced. Cleaning staff began beating down my door at 10 a.m., and continued at hourly intervals until I left, ruining my remaining hours of sleep. Naturally, no notation was ever made about my request. Less important--the refrigerator didn't work properly. And the soundproofing between rooms and floors leaves very much to be desired.

Location and accommodations were excellent. Staying on the canal side can be noisy when sleeping from late night walkers from bars being loud. Other then that I have zero complaints and would definitely return.

Wonderful view and very clean. Great place to stay nice and roomy and cozy.

I’m only rating it a 9 because we had ZERO hot water for our shower. Though no fault to the staff this was a big issue for us as we stayed for a wedding and needed to clean up for that event. My only other complaints were the view of the canal was great but the windows were so extremely dirty we could hardly see out of the smudges on the glass. I would have expected that to be clean often.
