Pros +

  • Location & Efficient
  • It was clean and recently remodeled. The gym was small but quite well appointed considering the size. Front desk staff was consistently nice and tried to be helpful. Parking was easy. Certainly heard some noise from above and other doors closing, but in general it wasn’t bothersome. Empty mini fridge was a surprise and nice to have. Two queen mini-suite had a nice amount of space. Close to Raley’s and to a brewery, which had good food, decent atmosphere, but also only decent beer.
  • The location was great. Gas station and grocery store right there. 5 mins from Historic Downtown Truckee

Cons -

  • Extra parking charges
  • The restaurant and breakfast were very disappointing. It was so hard to access the continental breakfast portion of it without constantly tripping over other guests because it was so close to the tables. I was saying “excuse me, I’m sorry, excuse me, I’m sorry” on repeat trying to get food. It’s a very small space for how many guests there are. Felt very crowded every morning. The breakfast lady taking orders for hot food was not pleasant on any of the mornings. Food was mediocre at best. I booked the hotel specifically because it had a “restaurant” because we have little kids and wanted to be able to eat without leaving the hotel if we wanted, but I wouldn’t call it a restaurant. It was just a makeshift place to order some very basic food. The shower didn’t get hot. Warm at best.
  • Housekeeping doesn’t make your beds until you check out. I like a clean room. Especially at that rate.

We have always liked this location as a convenient Truckee base to skiing at Northstar.

We have stayed here many times and our kids loved the included breakfast and its waffle machine. They have rebranded the hotel, just a paint job and face-lifted lobby. That’s it. Now breakfast is not included and they charge for parking. A downgrade in my mind.
