The hotel boasts a great location, being within walking distance to the seafront, Gaslamp area, and various restaurants, which many guests found incredibly convenient. While several reviews highlighted the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, some did mention issues with outdated furniture and noise. Perfect location. Walking distance from the train station and a lot of restaurants and bars. 15 min walk to the bay.

The value was amazing and the hotel looked just as great as the ones around it that were double and triple the price. My husband and I went to San Diego for a wedding and they had a hotel called the Winston booked with a group discount and even with that group discount at the Winston we paid half that at the Sofia. I rarely saw another guest so it was incredibly quiet and the staff were so nice and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel to everyone and it's the only hotel I'll stay at when I go to San Diego.
The rooms were a little small but when all you use it for is to sleep, lounge, eat, and get ready, it's perfect.

It is a great location. The free candy at the counter was a nice touch.
The rooms and beds were really small.

The location is good and the building is interesting. The king room with sofabed is large enough and has three additional seats to keep the bed down.
It would be better value for money if parking was included in the stay.

Very nice hotel. Staff was so accommodating. Clean.
No restaurant but there are plenty of places to eat around the area. Room was small it had 2 full beds which was a stretch. Not much room left

Excellent location in downtown, walking distance to the seafront, gaslamp area and the restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was cleaned daily, coffee maker in the room, fridge and a small microwave. Room was of good size bed comfortable.
Staff at check in was not very welcoming and helpful. We had an issue at check in as they took our credit card without telling us that the hotel was charging the entire amount of our stay plus holding on the card almost 30% deposit of the total cost. Regarding the issue of the deposit, we were told to refer back to Booking.com as nothing was mentioned on the booking about deposit. We advise to check when reserving as it's not the first time that the information on booking.com is incomplete.

Location, a quiet boutique and historic hotel. Comfortable room, well-appointed and snug (preferably for a single guest, tight for two).Everything in SD a walk, short bus or trolley ride away. Airport bus passes the front door. Nice staff, dated lobby but pleasant to sit.Morning coffee stand welcome. There is a small gym which has limited equipment needing service/upgrade.
Absence of on-site restaurant for breakfast. There are options close by, but each morning a steady group of fellow guests foraging for breakfast is a pity.Air conditioner a welcome comfort but very noisy. Shower at low pressure (old building, accept that) but oddly the shower drainage is intentionally restricted and slow: slip hazard as tray fills n not hygienic. Pet peeve- water in SD very hard, it was impossible to get soaps/shower gels to lather...alternatives must be available for prevailing water hardness?

Really liked the location. Very near harbor and Gaslamp district. Clean and staff was cordial.
We had stayed at this property in the past. The last time we stayed we really liked the bar and the restaurant and this was a primary reason for choosing it again. Sadly, the bar and restaurant are no longer available (apparently shut down during Covid and not reopened). The staff was cordial and helpful although not overly friendly. Valet parking seemed a little high priced considering there is no guarantee your vehicle will be parked in the garage versus an open lot. Our booking indicated a king room but we ended up with a queen size bed in a relatively small room and a view of a brick wall.
