The staff members, with whom I interacted, were all very professional, yet very pleasant and courteous. They answered my questions, were efficient in changing when I decided to stay in same hotel and had a fabulous breakfast on Sunday.
Amazing design
New sauna. Mens and women's separate open in mornings and evenings. Quiet location. Nice breakfast buffet with lots of options but it must be in your reservation otherwise 25ââÂÂì Per person.

The only thing I liked about the hotel was the location. It's a 10-minute walk from the Helsinki central train station.

Top Tips
- Book your summer hotel stay in Helsinki 6-8 weeks in advance to avoid typical price hikes of 30-40% compared to bookings made under four weeks out. Early planning helps secure central locations during popular festivals and the Midnight Sun season.
- Choose Ibis or Scandic hotels in Helsinki for capped nightly service fees of €3.50, while some independent properties charge €5-€8 per night. Compare citywide to maximize value, especially for extended stays.
- Explore Helsinki’s Kallio district for 20-25% lower hotel rates versus the city center. Enjoy a lively local culture and quick metro access, with Central Railway Station only 6-8 minutes away.
- Use ATMs from SEB, Nordea, or Danske Bank to keep withdrawal fees as low as possible. Other ATMs may add €3-€5 per transaction.
- If light or noise sensitivity is a concern, request hotel rooms away from waterfront venues like Löyly Sauna or Makasiini Creative Centre in Hernesaari, where event sounds can measure 55-60 dB.
- If working remotely, verify Wi-Fi upload speeds when booking. Business hotels generally offer 20-30 Mbps, while budget options may average 5-8 Mbps, which is adequate for video calls.
- At payment terminals, decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) to avoid extra markups averaging 4.2-5.8%. Always select billing in EUR for the most accurate rates.
- Prioritize STEP-certified hotels for verified step-free access. Statistically, 92% of certified properties maintain accessible routes throughout guest areas, ideal for wheelchair users or those with mobility concerns.
- Helsinki’s tap water is high quality and available in all hotels. Replace daily bottled water purchases, typically €3-€5 per bottle (approx. $3-$15 USD at recent rates), and support the city’s eco-friendly practices.
- Do not tip for sauna or spa services in hotels. Finnish sauna culture does not include gratuities, and staff do not expect them.
- Select Nordic Ecolabel-certified hotels, including Hotel Maria or GLO Hotels, for 30% lower water consumption and elimination of single-use plastics. These audits ensure both sustainability and a modern guest environment.
- If you rely on stable internet or power for work or health needs, confirm your hotel provides backup supply. Downtown’s grid offers 99.98% uptime, and most business hotels feature Wi-Fi UPS systems.
