The price was good for the room you got. I only rated it as poor over all because of my date did not have a good time. If your woman is ok with a cheap Holiday Inn clean but no bells and whistles or traveling alone its a good hotel.
The room are spacious and clean, the environment is safe. The staff are kind but few speak English. I was put in Old building but upgraded at no charge to another building where the room was very large and very comfortable.

Nice and helpful staff. The hotel rooms are quite spacious and beautifully SlavicÃÂ design. The only downside I can think of is the location. A little bit far from the Kiev center, but Uber is very cheap and quick. Thank you
Comfortable

Top Tips
- Present your passport and migration card at hotel check-in, as Ukrainian law requires hotels to register all guests. Save a digital copy on your phone or cloud storage for backup in case of loss. This ensures you can check in at hotels such as InterContinental Kyiv or Premier Palace without delays.
- Review your hotel's emergency protocols and confirm access to a bomb shelter or reinforced basement, as most hotels in Kyiv central districts are equipped for air raid alerts. Ask staff about backup generators and water supply, since short-term outages can occur.
- Hotels within 400 m of a metro station, such as near Khreshchatyk or Maidan Nezalezhnosti, reduce travel times by up to 25% during heavy traffic. Prioritize locations with direct metro access to minimize taxi dependence in peak hours.
- Secure advance rates and ensure room availability by booking at least 2-4 weeks ahead on platforms like Booking.com or TripAdvisor. Check for flexible cancellation policies and confirm which amenities such as Wi-Fi or breakfast are included in your rate.
- International chains (e.g., Radisson Blu, Hyatt Regency Kyiv) and certified 4- or 5-star local hotels generally offer English-speaking staff, in-room safes, and structured security. Confirm these features if traveling solo or on business.
- Ask about heating hours, consistent hot water supply (some hotels limit duration during outages), and blackout curtains, which are useful for both air raid alerts and daytime resting, especially in rooms facing main roads.
- For fixed fares and GPS tracking, use ride-hailing apps like Bolt or Uklon instead of street taxis; rides from Boryspil Airport to central Kyiv typically cost 500-700 UAH. Request pre-booked airport transfers via your hotel for reliable pickup.
- Bring a universal power adapter suitable for Type C/E plugs (220V), and carry a portable charger rated 10,000 mAh or higher. These are essential in case of short power interruptions common in Kyiv central districts.
- Keep 200-400 UAH cash for small purchases at local kiosks and metro tokens. While most hotels, cafes, and chain restaurants accept cards, markets and small vendors may not.
- Buy a Ukrainian SIM card from official kiosks like Kyivstar, Vodafone, or Lifecell. Kiosks at Boryspil Airport and city center malls require your passport for registration. Confirm plan validity to cover your entire stay.
- Standard tipping in Kyiv: 5-10% in restaurants if not automatically included. For porters, tip 20-50 UAH per bag. For housekeeping, 20-50 UAH per night. Check your hotel bill for service charge details to avoid doubling.
- Ask the front desk for restaurant and ticket recommendations for venues like Pechersk Lavra or the National Opera. Staff can also suggest safe walking routes, especially after 21:00 when traffic and lighting may be reduced.
- Use your in-room safe for passports and valuables, and choose marked, well-lit streets when walking at night in Kyiv’s central neighborhoods. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, request a taxi or ride-hailing service through the hotel.
- For families, confirm the availability and fees for cots, extra beds, and interconnecting rooms when booking. Ask about breakfast discounts for children and verify if the hotel offers accessible shelter options.
- Business travelers should verify Wi-Fi speed (20-100 Mbps standard), ask about access to quiet workspaces or meeting rooms, and check if backup power is supplied in business facilities for uninterrupted meetings.
- Request early check-in or late check-out in advance; fees vary by hotel and season (typically 10-50% of nightly rate). During off-peak months (Nov-Feb), upgrades may be available at check-in if occupancy is low.
- Learn basic Ukrainian phrases such as 'Dyakuyu' (thank you) and 'Dobryi den’' (good day) to facilitate smoother interactions, especially with taxi drivers or in shops outside tourist centers where English proficiency is limited.
- Verify your visa and passport validity before departure for Ukraine. Travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is recommended. Prepare to pay a city tax of approximately 1-2% of your room rate in cash at check-in.
- Most Kyiv hotels are non-smoking by law. If you’re sensitive to noise, request a room away from the street or on a designated quiet floor, particularly in neighborhoods with nightlife like Podil or Arena City.
- Review guest feedback from the past 3-6 months for your hotel, focusing on cleanliness, heating reliability, Wi-Fi stability, and sound insulation. This helps identify any repeated guest concerns before booking.
- Discover classic Ukrainian cuisine such as borscht, varenyky, and chicken Kyiv. Ask your hotel’s concierge for curated local restaurant or cafe options within a 1 km walk.
- Keep a written and digital list of emergency contacts, including your embassy and Ukrainian hotlines: 101 (fire), 102 (police), 103 (ambulance). Inform the hotel front desk of any critical medical conditions.
- Confirm the current operational status of hotel amenities such as dining venues, gym, or laundry, as short-notice changes may happen due to ongoing security conditions. Check with reception upon arrival.
- Monitor local news via sources like Kyiv Independent or official government apps for updates on curfews, air raids, or travel restrictions. Download the 'Air Alert' (Повітряна тривога) app for real-time notifications relevant to your district.
