We got what we paid for, unlike our stay in Ruston, LA. In fact, these beds were so comfortable, we rested the best we had rested the whole vacation time. It was refreshing. That's what a Hotel should be. This one was priced right for the services.

Top Tips
- Book hotel rooms at least 21 days in advance for the RiverView area to secure 15-25% lower rates. This reduces the average nightly cost by $15 to $55 USD in RiverView, especially near the Red River and Barksdale Air Force Base, by avoiding surge pricing during military rotations or river events.
- Decline dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at hotel front desks; pay in USD only. This avoids 4-7% hidden fees via unfavorable exchange rates, ensuring transparent pricing.
- Prioritize properties with fiber-optic internet if working remotely; average speeds exceed 150 Mbps. Select hotels with “Google Fiber” or “AT&T Fiber” connectivity for verified uploads of 50+ Mbps to support video calls.
- Confirm step-free access explicitly; only 38% of hotels have full ADA compliance across all room types. Request “no threshold entry” and elevator access even in two-story buildings.
- Opt for hotels outside the LA-3132 corridor to reduce noise exposure by 6-8 dB. Properties along LA-3132 (Airline Drive) face constant traffic noise; those east of Benton Spur Road report ambient levels below 55 dB at night.
- Skip minibar use as on-site prices are 40-70% above retail for local staples. A bottle of water or beer costs $4-$7 USD in minibars, versus $1.50-$2.50 USD at nearby stores like Raising Cane’s or Walmart Neighborhood Market.
- Choose properties with ENERGY STAR or Green Key certification to reduce utility surcharges. Certified hotels, such as Homewood Suites Bossier City, waive $15 USD nightly “resort” or “energy” fees common at non-certified chains.
- Tip housekeeping $3-$5 USD per night, left daily in an envelope with a 'Thank You' note. This aligns with Louisiana hospitality norms observed across six parishes.
- Verify Wi-Fi reliability during summer thunderstorms; outages affect 30% of properties for one to three hours. Frequent afternoon storms in June-August disrupt service, particularly at hotels without backup generators.
- Use ATMs inside Barksdale Federal Credit Union or Bossier Credit Union to avoid $3-$5 USD surcharges. Independent ATMs in hotels or gas stations add non-refundable fees on top of home bank charges.
- Request rooms away from casino floors if staying at Margaritaville or Eldorado Resort Casino. Sound transfer from gaming areas can exceed 60 dB at night; rooms facing the Red River report 45-50 dB, a 25% noise reduction.
- Avoid extended-stay hotels for stays under five nights; nightly rates are 20-30% higher than standard chains. Properties like Candlewood Suites or Residence Inn apply flat weekly pricing, making short stays more expensive.
