Hotel Guest Reviews of the Holiday Inn Edinburgh City West

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The bed was very hard as were the pillows. It was not within walking distance to the city. There was a grocery store that was right across the street which was convenient as breakfast was not included as it usually is with a Holiday Inn and the price was very expensive so we just got some muffins and coffee from the store.Definitely would not stay there again. There is another Holiday Inn Express in Edinburgh near the Royal Yacht Brittania that we stayed in as well and they are convenient to the city by a short bus ride as well as a free hot breakfast. ...read more

Very friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel was a little bit off a convenient bus line to the airport.

Good location for the city attractions.
Not as close to the airport as we thought. Taxi to airport cost 20 GBP.

The view from the room, and the room itself
The young women at the front desk; curt, almost rude -- more than one of them, through out stay.

Loved the room, very friendly staff & a nice view from my room.
A minibar or a flatscreen TV with more channel options would have been great.

Great hotel, a bit far away from the Royal Mile, but a very pleasant staff and atmosphere + good, clean rooms.

Large room.

Internet was not working. Asked front-desk staff to fix it in morning. Came back in evening and it was not fixed. Subsequently noticed the problem myself - one of the cables was not plugged in properly. They had a card touting free internet right on the desk and then when you actually go to use the service it's 6 pounds per hour!

The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The location is well outside the city centre. However, there is a bus stop close to the hotel.

The hotel was an excellent budget accomodation while in Edinburough. It is well outside the city centre, not within walking distance. But, there is a bus stop very close to the hotel with a bus that comes regularly that takes you into town. The rooms are clean and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.

Pleasant Staff
Not in City Centre

We around around the hotel around 13:30. Our room was not ready. We told the hotel staff member that it was our anniversary and without asking, he upgraded us to a suite and offered us a free drink at the bar while we waited. The room was ready about 20 minutes later. It was definitely worth the wait. The hotel rooms were extremely clean and the staff was nice and very helpful. I would recommend this room based on the rate we received and the friendliness of the staff. ...read more

The maid did a good job.
Elevator was creepy. Bad wake up service.

When I checked in, I asked if they did wake up calls. The front desk clerk assured me that that did "excellent" wake up calls. I requested a 7 am call. The next morning, I awoke a 8:30 due to noise from the neighbors, no wake up call. Also, the room had these "panic cords" in the bedroom and bathroom. No one ever explained what they were for, but it made me wonder about my safety. ...read more
