Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hilton Shanghai

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Location and thats pretty much it.
Its NOT a 5 star hotel. It has just a tag of hilton to it but its a horribly old hotel. You can get something much better for that price. The hotel is really old and once you walk out of the elevator towards your room, you feel ripped.

Internet via VPN connection to access Google & Gmail
Had to pay 70,00 $ extra fee for Internet. In the year 2015 it is not aceptable if you have to pay for internet access. Every hostel offers wifi for free.

Good hotel but I expected more service.

The check-in was quick and easy, and the room is comfortable with fantastic view of the Jing'an Temple area. Like a true 5-star hotel, there are nice sheets, fluffy towels, Peter Thomas Roth toiletry and complimentary bottles of water.
The hotel have a tendency to nickle-and-dime everything, with a 15% service charge. The rollaway bed cost RMB 210 per night. There is a charge for in-room wifi. The squash court is 100 RMB per use for hotel guests. They even add 15% for local calls.

The free public area wifi is fast and adequate. You can even access Facebook which is generally blocked in China. One last tip: going swimming at the hotel pool is not as simple as putting on a bathing suit like in American hotels. One is required to go through a foot bath, take a shower, and put on a swimming cap before getting in the pool. To be fair, the hotel has swimming caps on loan, but still, we didn't expect such elaborate preparations. All in all, we had a pleasant stay. ...read more

Hilton as a brand. You can never go wrong at a Hilton.
Would've been nicer if it was closer to the subway stations.

In general the hotels in China are less quality than in the states. This hotel was the best place we stayed on our entire trip to China. It was not as good as a five star in the states but for China it was great!
We had 2 twin beds instead of a king or queens.

2 pipe ventilation system. The heat got really warm even on the lowest setting. When asked how to cool the room down, the front desk advised we open a window. Really did not like having to breathe in polluted air in a 5 star rated hotel
