Hotel Guest Reviews of the Conrad Cairo

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

First of all, this is the daughter writing. I am the one who arranged the trip. The location was nice and we felt safe. The concierge, Amr, was the best! He is the only one I would speak to after our initial problems with the front desk
Yes. The purpose of my trip was to meet my fiancé and his family for the first time. I spoke to the manager about this in advance and he said it would be no problem for my new family to be in our room with us. He even suggested upgrading to a suite.

When we arrived, the front desk personnel said my fiancé could not visit my room at all. A night manager was called who heatedly told us my fiancé would be arrested if found in our room. The original manager was then called to confirm my story that this had all been arranged well in advance: That my fiancé would be there only for visits, not to sleep, and that his family would be coming and going from the room as well. My mother and I came to Cairo for the sole purpose of introducing the families. But when the manager, Mr. Hesham Saif, was called that night (our first moments in Cairo), he denied any knowledge. I got on the phone with him and he changed his story to, "Yes, but I didn't know he was Egyptian." Really? My family is coming to meet him and his family and you don't think to ask if he is Egyptian? You didn't assume it? Knowing its Egyptian law that he not visit my room (which may or may not be true)? So, his story kept changing. Ours did not. I never felt comfortable being with my fiancé in the lobby because I felt the staff were watching us like hawks. When we tried to go to the pool we were told there would be a $30 charge. PER PERSON! After a meltdown, my fiancé was allowed to swim in the pool. His sister declined to ever come into the hotel after the first day. So this great vacation I had planned, which included watching movies and painting toenails, was reduced to seeing him for just a few hours a day when we were at the pyramids and museums. I loved my visit to Cairo. And I will go back. But never to this hotel. I will call Amr, and use his services independently. Thank you, Amr, for calming me down. For talking to me about life, and for caring about the destruction of my dream for the week. Indeed, my mission to meet Mohamed's family was accomplished. But I was humiliated by this staff. And not one manager ever even bothered to apologize to me or come and explain anything. I loved Cairo everywhere but at this hotel. Next time, I'll get an apartment ...read more

the open spaces, location in a less congested area with decent nile views on the front, however even with empty rooms, the clerk did not give us a front view.
Smoking in the Lobby was constant.

Overall, the hotel was fine, however, I would anticipate upgrading the tv's. There were minor stains on the carpet, so I gave it a 8 out of 10. Otherwise, it was better than the Marriott Cairo Casino Hotel and cheaper. I left there due to the very hostile local environment.

Nice rooms, beautiful view of the Nile - although it was very foggy the day we were there, so sadly no real chance to enjoy the view.

Staff were helpful, lobby was grand, rooms were very nice. Bathrooms were excellent. Would definitely stay there again!
