Hotel Guest Reviews of the B&b Tropical

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The location is only 4-5 blocks from Roma Termini which makes it ideal for train or bus travelers. We had Room 1 and it was a very large room and the only one with an ensuite bathroom. Emily is very helpful and responsive.
There was a lot of street noise. The shower was very small.

This is an excellent and economical hotel if you want to stay near Termini to take advantage of the metro, train transportation or a bus to the FCO airport. The rates are very reasonable. Room 1 is very spacious with ensuite bath but all the showers (also shared baths)are very small. There are several reasonable and good restaurants in the local area within walking distance (Sapori di Casa, Meid in Nepols, The Beehive Cafe, I Porchettoni a San Lorenzo, That's Amore) that are frequented by locals. Emily is very helpful and responsive to requests. She has run this B&B for 7 years and lived in Rome 22 years. She keeps the rooms very clean. It is located on Floor 1 (2nd story) with a small elevator (big enough for 1 person with 1 luggage) or stairs wide enough to carry luggage. The only problem we had is it was noisy due to the street outside. The shower is also very small but it will work for most people. Breakfast includes cereal and there is always fruit, juice and coffee available. There is a small bar one block away that provides croissants and coffee to supplement the breakfast which is included. ...read more

Emily, the owner was very helpful. Born in the Philippines she can speak Togalo, Spanish; and married to an Italian she knows Italian. She's also quite fluent in English

We chose B&B Tropical because it was near to the Termini Train station, two and half short blocks away. Homeless probably African street vendors sleep on the sidewalk along side of the train station in the area where the street of the B&B ends. My wife and I (I'm 71 and my wife is 69)each walked with two suitcases (one large and one carry-one) to our place at 8:15 PM when we arrived by train and also at 3:45 AM when we walked to the station to get a taxi to the airport. We regularly saw people, often men dressed in suits, walking on the street with a roller suitcase both day and night. I felt more secure on the street than in the Termini Station. Instead of in-house breakfast we got a voucher to use for a cappuccino and a delicious roll. We could use the kitchen, the stove, toaster, toaster oven, dishes, utensils; and some drinks from the fridge. She always had fresh apples, oranges and bananas available during our four-day stay. She set a table and provided bread, milk, cereal for us on the day that we left at 3:30 AM to catch our plane. The beds were comfortable. The private bath was small, with a small shower. One night we shared a bath that was much larger and had a tub. It's important to let management know when you arrive so that they can open the very securely locked door for you when you arrive. They are not always present at this location. The people are conscientious and will be there if they know when to expect you. Wi-fi worked well, somewhat slow I thought, in the bedroom with the private bath near the kitchen-office. There was no wi-fi access in the larger room off another corridor with the larger bath. In this room you'd have to go to the kitchen area where the computer is located. ...read more
