The hotel itself is lovely. Be warned--no elevator and you have to take everything out of the car--ice chest, etc.because of bears. Staff did carry the heavy ice chest up the stairs which helped. "Shared bathroom" means dorm style, e.g. bathrooms for the whole wing. No air conditioning, which normally wouldn't be a problem, but the day was particularly hot. Room had been closed all day. Even with window wide open and two fans, I couldn't get enough ventilation to cool less than about 90 degrees all night. Staff were great, restaurant was excellent, and sitting on the veranda was very pleasant. ...

Drinks by the fireplace in the evening, the pianist playing show tunes; it is a place to be SOCIAL...the continental breakfast (and menu items) were delicious. We enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly staff and interesting 1900's era hotel experience.

The Wawona Hotel is a delightful way to experience "old Yosemite". If you do not mind the dormitory-style bathrooms for a night or two, and are into history of any kind, the Wawona is a must!

Beautiful old hotel. Rustic charm. There is only wi-fi in one room. This is a good thing as it kept the lobby and main public spaces nice and relaxed and (mostly) free of people staring at screens.

We stayed in a smaller cottage before which was nice. This time we were in the main hotel, it was loud, creaky, very thin walls, and you could hear about 10 alarms go off very early in the AM. The wait staff in the restaurant was really hit or miss and not very professional, which was disappointing for such a mediocre pricey meal. For our second trip some of the magic had worn off but it was nice to have an affordable indoor/heated option, though it was a bit of a drive back and forth to the valley. Love the piano player, and the hotel staff was very friendly and shared the history freely which was fun. The hotel is a neat old relic of the past and worth checking out if you are into that kind of thing. ...

Hotel has had it's day. If you can't stay in the Valley then stay outside of the park on route 140 where there are a number of accomodation and meal options.

This is a great place to stay. Very quaint, it fits well with the Yosemite experience. The rooms are cute and comfortable. You should be aware that none of the rooms have baths - they are down the hall and shared among the rooms. That said, they are clean and warm.
Be sure to ask about the self-guided tour of the pictures throughout the lobby and dining rooms.
Avoid the restaurant. Food is really expensive and really bad. ...

Great location, clean, and friendly staff. In need of sufficient, new computers at front desk.

Included full breakfast is a big plus. The setting of the hotel is unbeatable in peacefulness and natural beauty. It will change your perspective about how we live because there is no cell phone reception, no TV, no WiFi except for a small out of the way area, shared bathrooms for most of the rooms, loud frogs at night. Back to nature, crystal clean air that smells like nothing else! ...
