Hotel Guest Reviews of the Volcano Hale

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Our room was very clean. The close proximity to Volcano National Park made the visits to the park very easy.
The front desk people did not follow through with requests. The dehumidifiers needed dumped and the toast was never replaced even after requests from the visitors.

We found this hotel very charming. The guests were interesting and fun to meet. The rooms and shared spaces were very clean. The extended grounds were rainforest and walks were so very pleasant. We would revisit Volcano Hale. We found the other visitors to be very interesting and we each had stories at the end of the day which gave everyone information about possible future ventures into the park. ...read more

The hotel was a little hard to find. But once found it was a nice place to stay. The house was a quaint 1912 three-story building made up like hostels in the area. The renovated bathrooms were excellent. The staff was very helpful. We had no problems.
The only thing I had trouble with was finding the hotel. I thought it was the Volcano House in the national park nearby. I learned "Hale" also meant "house".

I would advise travelers to this hotel to definitely remember to download a map to find it. Other than that, it was a very nice place. I'd give it a 5-star rating.

It's close to Volcanoes National Park.
Buggy shared kitchen.

Share bath is not family friendly. Shared kitchen is dirty and trash bin is too small and not cleared every day. The office is 2 big blocks away from the building we were staying, and it's not easy to find. There's no ramp to reach the ground floor, only a flagstone path. Definitely not wheeled suitcase friendly.
