Washington Travel Guide

Rustic Washington state is located in the upper Northwest portion of the United States and was named after the fine first President. style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  Both the landscape and culture are diverse and unique. Washington state is well-known for the vast, thick woods located along the Pacific coast and on into the central portion of the state. The southern portion is mainly desert, where state boundaries collide with its two border states, Oregon and Idaho. The state culture itself ranges from pre-colonial Indian heritage, to twentieth-century environmentalists, to early 1980's grunge musicians. It's a culture as diverse as the sea it borders, and that culture feeds a tremendous amount of tourism activities, both indoor and out, as well as breathtaking, jaw-dropping sights. Washington is a great state for a road trip, with plenty of National Parks, Wildernesses and Mountains to fill an entire year! Seattle is Washington's largest city, with a large metropolitan and surrounding area. The city is famous for its coffee and fantastic arts and theater arts scene. While staying inside the city, there are many choices of simple hostels with clean sheets and top rated hotels with 360 degree views of the city. Nearby Tacoma and Bremerton are smaller towns with historical interest as well as great shopping, art and tourist attractions. Both offer great lodging with the name brand hotel chains. The Puget Sound- Seattle area is great for business travel as well as leisurely getaways. Spokane, in the East is a booming economic hub of Washington. Still surrounded by agriculture, Spokane has features Historic Hotels and Inn and hosts many festivals that take place almost year round.

Washington is also the ultimate destination for eco-tourism. Travelers to the state visiting Olympia, close to Olympic National Park will find a few mid-range hotels and a lot of great lake side resorts near Quinault. RV park accommodations can also be found in many areas surrounding all of the National Parks. Mount St. Helens brings in thousands of visitors each year.
