New Mexico Travel Guide

New Mexico is a state enriched by the Spanish and Mexican cultures that predominated the state from the beginning. Today visitors can witness the cultures still influencing the way of life through Spanish Colonial architecture, American Indian artistry and in the often spicy and always palatable cuisines. The state is brightly colored   by the desert landscape and every year with balloon festivals and other traditional celebrations. Central New Mexico has welcomed a fair share of tourism and visitors are tucked in each night at a variety of hotels and motels sprinkled throughout the state.  Anyone traveling through the state will be easily charmed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, a lower portion of the Rockies, or even swept away by the Rio Grande, which bisects the state into East and West.  While the vast plains continue on here from Texas and Oklahoma making the East attractive in its own right; it's likely that what will draw visitors to the state is the central and western portions. It is there that the mountains for skiing and hiking lure tourists in to explore the many diverse wonders they offer.

A large portion of New Mexico resides in the central valley of the state, also known as the Rio Grande Corridor. It is here that the most well known and oft traveled to Taos, Los Alamos, Santa Fe and Albuquerque are located, and where most of the technological boom has had most impact in recent years. Business travelers to this region will find suitable lodging ranging from affordable, low-rate motels, to luxurious, all-inclusive resorts. Families may travel to Albuquerque in October to watch the inspiring annual balloon festival, where thousands of hot air balloons take to the sky, and when the sun sets, they will find comfortable accommodations in uptown to suite their families needs.

 There are many reasons why people travel to New Mexico and right on top is the illustrious Santa Fe, home to Georgia O'Keefe, this artistic city is very scenic and has a ton of old architecture that history and art buffs alike will want to explore. Here, tourists will find lodging aplenty in a wide range of hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Spas and Resorts, motels and rental cabins. The mountains of New Mexico bring in the thousands for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and river rafting. With many Wilderness and National Parks to chose from leisurely tourists looking for outdoor fun will have a hard time choosing what activity to do next.
