Delaware Hotel Guides

The second smallest state in the United States also happens to be one of the most densely populated. Delaware doesn't have much to claim other than being the first state to amend the Constitution and having tax-free shopping, but that doesn't mean the state isn't a great destination for business, leisure or even love! Throughout the state couples will find a surprising quantity of hideaways and cozy beach lodgings in little towns like Lewes. For those seeking leisurely activities, Delaware is filled with historic houses and landmarks, New England-like lighthouses and state parks that draw tourism into the state and other pastimes such as hiking, hunting, golfing, or racing, making it a truly unique vacation destination. Travel accommodations in Delaware range from campgrounds to low-budget motels and inns to stylish hotels, and historic bed and breakfasts.

The state of Delaware is primarily broken into three different regions, and the canal that runs east to west typically separates the urban in the North from the rural in the South. Each region in the state has a very distinct flavor and character. For example, in New Castle County, lie the cities of Wilmington and New Castle. Each city is unique and has a specific draw to tourism both during the day and at night. For instance, Wilmington is charming and attractive by day, but has an intense nightlife loved by many of the state's youth. Conversely, New Castle is more subtle and laid-back. Located along the river, this city is lined with cobblestones reminiscent of the old days and has plenty of historically significant landmarks. Visitors in this region will enjoy staying at picturesque Bed and Breakfasts, affordable hotels and a multitude of other suitable accommodations.

Another of the state's regions, Kent County, is home to Dover, the state's capital city and the center of speedway racing, horse racing and scenic byway views. Many hotels and inns offer lodging to all speed loving tourists traveling through Dover. SussexCounty, the last region of the state, highlights Delaware's resorts and beaches, and is comprised of many small beach side towns, such as Dewey Beach. This area is widely known for its summer long celebrations, great golfing and shopping outlets. Lodging and accommodations in Sussex County tend to range from brand name hotels to luxurious resorts and spas.
